This just back from Evolv.

The DNA20D does have a hardware cut off which prevents the unit from over discharging your batteries and ruining them. The hardware cut off is 3v.

All is well in the world again :D

I got that response too :p
I want to know what happens when that cutoff is reached though (have email in).

I'm not sure about the Nivel but I do know IMO there is a huge difference between the way a DNA vapes and zmax. I will just say that I gave my zmax away if that gives any indication how much more I prefer the DNA.

Does the nivel use the 33hz pwm chip found in the zmax, vamo, etc?

Thanks for contacting Evolv about the LVC, bap. It's good to know that the DNA20 won't drain LiPo's into the danger zone.

Re: zmax. As others have written, The low-frequency modulation and poor output filtering lead to a very rough vape colloquially known as the "rattlesnake" effect. For me that's a total deal breaker, I require smoothness comparable to a mechanical mod, as can be obtained from the DNA20 or the OKR-T/6.

The insulator broke and the center post got pushed down into the internals on my Sigelei Zmax. That one uses the same frequency as well. I would rather use my Lavatube 1.5 than use the Zmax with the rattlesnake sound. So annoying.

Yeah that is my only peeve about the board. It seems that should have been polished out of its operation. Other than that it is the top dog among boards IMO, the nivel doesn't offer anything better than it.

Edit:

:D

i don't know if anyone else is having this happen. my dislike of the dna20 is every time it goes to sleep and then i hit my fire button it says check battery. then will not fire till i let go of the fire button then hit it again. other than this i love the dna20

By the way, are you sure about that behavior? On all my DNAs the mod will fire while those messages are flashing on the screen. If I ignore the screen and just hammer down and vape, I actually don't notice any delay.

I can think of a lot of worse things that are a pain in the .......

What is the mAh of the batt you're using? With higher mAh batts, it takes a few micro seconds to re-activate the DNA when its been inactive. You shouldn't need to play with the up/down buttons though.

Just a thought... but you may have a funky switch that intermittently acts up if like you say the DNA fires 9 out of 10 times.

To be in compliance with ECF's policy on modding and the practice of modding, I will no longer share my modding knowledge, or share modding tutorials here at ECF.

You all know where you can find me.
