Enough with the fear mongering. If you had spent any time in the Modding Forum you'll see that folks have been stacking batteries in series to build regulated mods since 2009. Many of these mods were built by folks who didn't even own a meter. Then there are the myriad of retailers that later jumped into the fray making these stacked devices even easier to make or even buy cheaply.

I wonder how many of these kits or assembled mods MadVapes has sold.

5v 510 Box Mod Kit

Or the VV version.

Variable Voltage White Box Mod

Or how many stacked mods this guy has sold.

Little Sister Variable Vari-Cool - Ken's Boxmods

Or this guy.

SmokBox Custom Mods - 3.7v, 5v, Linear and Switching Variable Voltage

I could go on and on and on.

Where are all explosions? How can these folks still be selling such 'unsafe' mods?

Fear mongering? Ok, I guess...

I have spent time in the modding forum and actually was for a long time the only place I went. Like I said earlier, I am no expert and I rely on the expertise of those who are. I remember a lot of discussion around the topic with informed and thoughful posts on both sides of the issue. The mere fact that there was a debate was enough for me to not bother with it as there are plenty of other options. I built a stacked VV mod myself and it never exploded and as you said, there are many many other examples of stacked mods that are working just fine.

With a 100 buck budget you certainly could use the DNA20D......single battery.....with a display....

Here is the datasheet if you want to review...

http://evolvapor.com/wp-content/uploads/dna20.pdf

The 20D mods I have built for around 70 bucks also have a micro usb charger board built in and tactile switches for the fire and up/down wattage adjustment....the display shows the wattage, voltage, ohm's of the atty/carto and battery level....the display also shows error messages when needed....

That's actually really cool. I like how it used a LiPo pack. Great idea. How exactly does the charge board work? Don't those packs have to have some sort of balancer? Is the charge time respectable? For some reason, I'm actually not sure I'd want my mod to be that small though. Although a small brushed aluminum case that size would look pretty boss... hmm. $70 you say.. agh. Now all you people have me second guessing the plans I made for myself. Haha.

And about explosions.... I'll take my chances on that. The probability is so far fetched that I just can't burden myself with it. If it were something to do with performance, maybe I would reconsider based on that. Does it affect performance?

I use a single Li-Po, 3.7 volt, 1200mah, 20C rated E-fly cell......no balancing required......the micro usb charger board just connects to the DNA20D board + to + and - to - per the datasheet diagram....full charge in a couple hours....ya don't have to make it small, I just wanted small....

Looks sort of like a Darwin. Where did you get that case, and how did you fabricate the folding 510 connector Assembly? I'd LOVE to see some internal pics, or at least some pics with the case lid off.

Inquiring minds want to know...

Finally took a pic. I was in a hurry so it is a little messy but it works great still.
