Well I got some of my stuff from China today :) so I put together a couple of box mods. One for the wife and of course another for me. :D

This one is for the wife. I used a Health E-Cigarette charger connector. It is like the 401 but not as deep so the atty will not screw all the way down. As is has a hex head I didn't bother with the RCA connector.

And I built this one for me with a recessed RCA connector

They look different now that everything is glued in, but you get the idea.

Thanks for looking ;)

Very nice work Burnie!

You want harder?, do a flashlight and then you should move on to something you find suitable to be modded :D

BTW, I had my cold heat sitting in a closet half finished mod.
After all the push posted about it, I decided to finish it, impossible to do a step by step since it depends on what each one wants to do with it. On mine I used a 6 mm contact switch under the original slide switch cover so you can't tell there is a new one.

I don't understand all the fuzz about it since it is a monster size and with the 4 batteries its also heavy. It does vape really good (I'm using it with regular not rechargeable), but the size is just too much for me and I have mods that vape as good.

I can't wait to see what you will do next Burnie, keep it up. :)

Great job Burnie... I hope my stuff gets here soon I'm at a stand still. Can't wait to see your next one. Any ideas on what it will be?
Well I'm glad you asked :D
I am going to TRY to do the Cold Heat Soldering Iron as a 5v mod. I am going to use 4ea 14500 batteries and a regulator, 2 pair in series, each pair in parallel. Not sure if this is possable but it is an idea I was thinking about. It shipped today from GA to FL so I should have it the first of the week to look at and see if it is even possible. I also have some 16340 & 18650 batteries and stuff coming from China, not sure what I'll do with them, but I'll figure it out ;)

I am going to TRY to use 4ea 14500 batteries, 2ea in series, then the 2 pair in parallel and use a 5v regulator. I am not sure it will work as I don't have the Cold Heat Soldering Iron in my hands taken apart, but that is my plan. Once I get it those plans may change. At worst it will be 5v with only 2 batteries, I am sure I can make that work, but I want to do it with 4.

Very nice work, very clean solder job to. In the mean time you may want to add some LED's to them. It is only slightly harder and they do look cool in the dark, they also blink once and go out when the battery goes dead. It can be frustrating if you buy a bunch in a bag at RS cause some work and somer don't, I found that out after superglueing one in the box. I have been thinking about the laser mod myself. I have been using a clear epoxy because I had some but it makes for a clean looking job when finished and dries in minutes.

Thanks for your pic's mate ... i figured out while ago that i can use my crappy health e cig charger as a 510 atomizer fitting .. :)
Yea it is not a perfect fit, but it is a use for these Health E-Cigarette chargers and attys, because they are total crap. Guess we all made some purchase mistakes when we started. I ordered 5 of them because they were cheap, 3 were DOA, which I did get a refund on and didn't have to send back. I just kept reading about the 401 and 510 screwing together and tried it one day. Going to try to take apart one of the attys next, just have to go buy another dremmel tool because I can't find mine anywhere.

I looked at them but the maximum voltage I am seeing is anywhere from 2.4v to 3.6v, so it would need something like a resister to drop the voltage. Guess I'll look around the board and see what everyone else uses and give it a try.

Yea I have got to get to the store and get some, this gorilla glue works but is a pain to work with and looks like A@@ when you finish.

I used a 100 ohm 1/4 watt resistor, you can get like 5 for a dollar at RS. I tried to search for the thread I found it in to give credit to whoever posted it but the search function here is less then great. I also got the LED's there, an assorted 20 pack for a couple of bucks. The singles cost about the same each but 50% of the assorted pack were DOA.

I have to go out this am to get some stuff for a party so I will swing by RatShack and get some LED's and resisters. Thanks for the info.

Burnie,
I just got mine at Harbor Frieght for 17 bucks. It comes with a case, for storage, and some attachments. It's not as small as a "Dremel" but it's a nice size. If you got a HF around you it's worth taking a look at. They also have a smaller rechargable one but it didn't feel right to me.

Thanks Carlos, lots cheaper than the local Home Depot, they wanted $70 8-o
I will look some more for mine but if I can't find it still I will order one from Harbor Freight, really good prices. Thanks Again ;)

Thanks for the picks Burnie!

I've used LED's in each of my 3.7v mods, my first had three parallel circuits. One for the atty, one LED that lit with the kill switch, and one for the main switch. 100 Ohm 1/4 watt resistors have lit up the RatShack 2.1v 20mA LED assembly's on 3.7v mods.

I get the "assembly" version, two pack for $2.49. Have not had a DOA one yet. I've read the resistor can be either before, or after the LED. I've only run them before the LED.

Why the Gorilla glue? What if you have to replace the switch?

On the top picture it was to glue in the threaded adapter, I put too much and it expanded all the way to the switch. On the second one it was to hold the RCA connector that is almost against the switch. On either if the switch goes bad I'll just have to scrap the box. I got some epoxy yesterday so I won't have that problem with future boxes.
