Built my first coil-came out pretty good. Chest pain from the fiberglass wick?

So I made my first coil today. I got it to come out to 2.7 ohms on my first try. It looks pretty good.
I used fiberglass wick. The throat hit was insane and it produced very little vapor. It made my chest feel raw really bad.
I stopped using it and took a drink of water and it feels fine now.
I kept having to clear my throat and had some phlegm. I haven't coughed up phlegm in months.

Was this because I used fiberglass wick?

I took off the top and the coil wasn't producing vapor like in the youtube vids. Whats the problem?
I wrapped the wick 6 times and all the coils light up pretty good.

I have a V3 as well, check to make sure yer air hole it not aimed directly at the coil mounting post......this can block most if not all air. Might need a thicker o-ring in between the base and "mid-cap" so that you can line it up with the coil better...

air hole can be a factor but also check yer coil and make sure that each coil is touching the wick......you could be running one or more of the wraps dry.......this can give you the issues that you are having also.

Also, if all yer coil wraps are touching yer wick then the wick might not be keeping up with the coil................realize that wicking and coil resistance go hand in hand and need to be working in concert with yer draw to achieve optimal performance.

Example, if you are running a low resistance coil at mid to high voltage with a really thin wick,,,,,,,then the wick prolly won't keep up and the coil will run dry.....solution get more/better wicking material so it can keep up OR wrap a higher resistance coil and/or lower the voltage so it will keep up.

Everybody is a lil different but ya gotta keep messing with it and trying little changes here and there until you get what works right for you. I prolly went through 100 wick and coil combinations when I first started with rebuildables but now I have my process and know my sweet spot.

Good luck, keep at it..

ok well it could very easily the wick is too thin to get a good flow or the coil is too far from the airhole. ( i dont have one so i dont know the inside just going by common problems)

try firing it while the cap is off and put a drop or 2 directly on the coil and look at the vapor production coming off the coil. if it looks decent then most likely the wick isnt pulling enough juice. when used with the cap on.

I pushed the coils closer together. That helped tremendously. But it is still not producing enough vapor. The throat hit is spot on now though.

Try pulling on the wick a little as if you were going to slide it out. If it's easy, the coils too big, and if it seems like it's not going to budge, the wick is probably too big.

If you haven't done so already, you might want to experiment with cotton. There's some good info on cotton in the 'different cottons' thread here on the forum.
