I don't think it really matters what size wire you use. I spent the last 10 mins building a coil for my Igo-s using 32g wire. I used 14 wraps and it came out to 3.8 ohms and it performs exactly the same as the 11 wrap of 28g I just made. The ohms are drastically different but it seems as long as the coils are really tight it doesn't matter. The only issue I had was I couldn't pull the legs tight under heat because the wire kept breaking. To solve this I just put the coil on the atty then got it glowing hot, then squeezed the coil with needle nose pliers. It had the same effect as pulling the legs. Lag time was the same because I used a slightly smaller diameter for this build. But that's the smallest I can go and still use yarn.

I tried the higher ohm one on my mech but there was little vapor. I hope I don't have to retire my mechs because they're so much smaller than my regulated mods.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what do you guys mean by lag time? I'm all over these coils and learning them. I have tried genesis type RBA recently but I still really like the cotton wicks and such.

The time it takes for a coil to heat up. Mine are instantaneous, unless their flooded in a pool of juice :)

Well, I just this past week finally rebuilt my Vivi nova with cotton and I'm testing it to see how long it lasts since I haven't found a thread to answer that question. So far I made it on last Monday evening and its still going great and tasting good. I am trying to see how long it lasts. i will try this micro coil thingy on my Igo-l. :)

I redid my wick as you suggested. There is definately a lot less of a dry flavor now. It is much more full now.

It has since puffed out a bit when vaping and adding juice.

After using for awhile I am starting to get that same burny socks taste from before. It also seems to have stopped wicking as well as I am getting dry/harsh hits again. Not sure what happened but I will mess with it and report back. Lastly, It is not producing clouds anymore... :-(

Wrapped my first mc today also, around 10 wraps of 28 g kanthal on a micro screwdriver so that I could .... the coil up towards the handle to get it nice and compact then I hold the legs with a tweezers and get it glowing red over a flame,it then holds its shape, came out at 1.3 ohms, inside diameter is around 1.5 mm roughly, installed on igo-l then grabbed a piece of 2.5 cotton yarn wrapped a piece of 34guage tightly around one end and guided it through the coil with ease, hits pretty good,th flavour is there and respectable vapour so pretty pleased, could have sent smaller with the diameter, maybe next time, resistance is too high for me mech but its running no problem on provari at ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21371313231.082770.jpg3.9 so far

You have to change the wick often (maybe even daily) with some juices. That's the beauty of cotton, so simple to do :)

With unflavored nic base in mostly VG, my cotton wicks last for days possibly even weeks.

You also have to keep the cotton wet to the point of saturation - else it burns and half the wick falls off! It never recovers from that one dry hit.

Rewick it, or if that's too fiddly, just make a new coil (i find that faster). I have heard good reports of ceramic wick or ekowool too and i recently made one that lasted easily 2 weeks of daily use with ceramic. The point being that you can dry burn it to keep the coils clean.

if u don't mind me asking... what atomizer is this one? this is the kind of rda that i had been looking for ... 2posts that are far apart acreoss each other....

thanks in advance .....

I believe that if its too thick, it'll choke when it expands. Coil looks great though. Good job man. I've built coils that completely touch, but found that some random small gaps are good :)

It's by REOsmods.com. Its available for $43. The ceramic base kills. If you like the atty, you'll love the mods. Here's mine :) their bottom feeders - fresh squeezed juice on demand. Those 3 similar looking attys are them. Ones is brass.
