Burned battery contact

Hey guys,

I broke out my mini reo, put in a battery, went to dry burn (just to make sure my battery was good) and there was some liquid in the bottom of the box (obviously I didn't see it) and what I think happened is that it just burned my negative battery spring and it started smoking, took the battery right out.

What I'd like to know is, how to I tell if my battery is still good, or if it's messed up....

Any ideas?

I would be wary of the atty that caused that.

it was a short either in the atty or in the connector on the REO. it was not due to juice in the box.
the atty may have been too tight

I took off the atty and I'm using it on an ego right now, it is some garbage $4 306 atty from EastMall, so I wouldn't be surprised...

How to I tell if it's a bad atty?

More info: I've got a provari that's supposed to tell me if an atty is .... (will give an error message) should I just hook it up to that?

You do not check an atty with a device, you check an atty with a multi-meter.

well before you sent that message I already threw it onto the provari lol, and sure enough it errored on me, as did the next one I opened up -_-

It's fairly easy to test the battery and the atty on the multimeter;



Skip forward to 2:20 in this video to see how a multimeter is used to test an atomizer. To test that battery it is a simple matter of setting your MM on "voltage" and putting a probe on both contacts to see if you get a charge but be careful with batts as always

the other thing i have seen is sometimes an atty will be fine on one device but cook a spring on another.

If it was a short, the spring would have collapsed. Make sure the atty's center post doesn't protrude much, it should be flush or almost. Also, check that the rubber insulator is in place, so the center post cannot touch the outer part.
