Hello everyone,

I'm pretty new to this and am currently using a few different types of KR808-D1 units and had a few questions.

I am having a hard time noticing when my Cartos are starting to run dry. What signs do you guys usually look for? Recently I noticed that smoke had decreased, but I thought it was the battery running low. I popped open the top and saw that the edges of the filling were brown in a few areas. Any tips on how to tell this is about to happen?

Would smoking from a Carto that has those brown burn spots be a bad idea? Can I still refill this or would it be best to just throw it away?

Thanks everyone, :)

Hi jorvic,

The brown may be from burning, but it is more likely from caramelized juice. Much of this can be cleaned out. I soak my cartos in vodka over night, then flush with hot water and dry for 30 min in a 200 deg oven. Seems to clean out most of the discoloration, but not always 100%. The original kr8 cartos do have filler which can more easily burn if too dry, so burning is not out of the question. I like the premium kr8 cartos from litecig. Their filler is more like Boge 510 cartos which is more meshlike rather than cotton like. They wick better too. Also, thinner juices work better in cartos. Thicker tend to not wick to the depleted parts fast enough and can after a while taste like they need juice when they just need time to wick more uniformly.

As for how long do they last, too many variables to say quantitatively. I detect a particular taste, which I call the "tired" taste, when I need to add more juice. Visuals are of course not possible while vaping. OTOH, I use a drip tip on my cartos, and every once in a while drip in several drops. Works great!!

Clearomizers do have clear tubes, so you can see the juice level better, but those are very different than regular cartos.
