Anything I can do about this? I debridged my Magma atomizer. When I drip it a few drops, the first hits taste great, but I actually get very little vapor production. By the time the juice level starts to go down a little bit and the atomizer is able to power out some bigger clouds, it's accompanied by a very noticeable burning taste. I dry burned the coil until I could see it glowing which seems to maybe have contributed to the fact that now I can taste the coil.

I debridged one atomizer right after i started vaping. That was enough to find out i dont like it. I does change the taste slightly for me but I didn't get a burnt taste. The magma atomizers i have used never tasted bad, even when new they don't taste bad like some of the other brands. I guess you know not to debridge them. Sorry to say, I dont think there is much you can do now

Can't say as I've tried debridging. I haven't really had any problems with dripping on the magma 510 attys, but I've seen quite a few warnings about dry burning the atty till you see the coil glow...then again I've seen just about as many claiming its a good part of the cleaning process. To each their own, but I'll empathize with you on the bad taste.

Try giving it a white vinegar bath for a couple of hours. Rinse with hot water then let dry overnight. I would say that old juice is what is causing the burning taste. I have a debridges 510 from a kit and love it. If I let it go dry just once, I have to clean it or else I get the same thing....the dreaded burnt taste.

Absolutely. You have to get the drops right in the ceramic cup or you get no vapor, it's too easy to make a leaky mess and it's good for two hits at the most before you have to repeat. It's the coil heating the bridge and wick that produces the best vapor, and three drops is good for 6-8 good vapes. Now, this is at 6v so maybe it works better at lower voltages, but it just isn't my cup of tea.

Hmm, well if letting it accidentally run dry is enough to get a burnt taste, then an intentional dry burn as a cleaning method probably was a bad idea. I mean, I still get good flavor at first, but low vapor. Then I get one good hit where it's flavor AND vapor. Then it continues to vape like a champ, but the burnt taste starts to come in. I guess once the fluid gets a little lower, there isn't enough flavor to mask that coil taste. Thanks for the tip with the cleaning method.

Ok, this confirms what I was experiencing. Was wondering if my atomizer was different because there are openings around the ceramic reservoir where the fluid can easily escape to if I miss the bowl. So yeah, I've been getting a lot of leaking, and only a few brief hits before it's time to refill. Was definitely getting better results when I still had the bridge in there. Not sure if this modification works better on other atomizers, otherwise I have no idea what people enjoy about this. The grey area between "flooded" and "dry" is way too tiny when there's no mesh or wick to help out.

Lesson learned. I will probably replace my magma atomizer and continue to drip, bridge included.

Thanks everyone.

Hey BlackMetal, I just tried it myself on a brand new Magma atty that was cleaned before its first use...yeah, there is a very small window between having just enough juice in and so much it floods, but the first time I got it right I had to seriously adjust my drawing habits. It was producing such a rich vapor with rich taste that it felt like my chest might just cave in! I got about a good 5-6 hits before needing to refill, and no burnt taste to it, but its definitely hit or miss with our attys.

Interesting. Yeah, I've been trying it throughout the night since posting this, and sometimes I do see what all the fuss is about. I'll get some pretty good hits. Then I'll go for it again, and get a mouthful of metal taste. Dripping was pretty satisfying with the bridge and mesh still in place. Maybe other atomizers benefit from it more, but the Magma is already low resistance and did just fine without modding it. I think I'll probably order a replacement. Or I'll use this opportunity to give the 306 cisco attys a try, which people rave about.

Here's the thing folks:

If you de-bridge your atty then 2 drops can flood it and when an atty is flooded it heats up the liquid instead of producing vapor right away, which explains the burning taste and less vapor production. I have a de-bridged atty myself and it works and tastes better than any other method. How do I achieve this? You ONLY put 1 drop of liquid on the coil! Not 2, not 3, 1!! You can't have a pool of liquid on a coil, that's NOT how vapor is produced. Again, the pool heats up and isn't vaporized right away and changes the taste dramatically. I personally perform a dry burn every now and then. It really does clean an atty very well! However, this is at your own risk and you should watch some videos out there on how to do it.

This should fix many burnt taste problems!

Did you rinse the atomizer thoroughly with hot water before doing the dry burns?
Did you dry burn completely until absolutely no more smoke was coming out?
Did you rinse the atomizer out again after you were done dry burning?

Failure to do any of the above could explain your burnt taste.

The thread below describes a proven way to do dry burns properly...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

A properly dry burned atomizer will not have any burnt taste at all.
Unless of course, it is run too dry, same as any atomizer.
