Hello,

I am a newbie here at this forum.. I have been vaping for a bit over three weekes and have been without an analog cigarette for 23 days ! ;)

My Question is that everythime I use my eGo to vape I have a problem with getting a burnt tasting vape hit, and I am only holding down the button for 5 seconds.. I have been vaping RY4 PG and even though I am getting a lot of vapor its a burnt tasting one. So I have to cut the time to around 3 or 4 seconds the most to get a good tasting vape, but its not as much vapor as I would like. I am confused b/c I read on this forum to press the button down for a second or two before drawing and then continue to press the button for another 4-5 seconds drawing slowly.. They were talking about a 510 model, so I am thinking maybe its my eGo, or possibly the PG liquid ? does it burn faster then VG, or is there another possibility I am not aware of??
Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks
C J

As far as I know, there is no difference in the speed in which different juices get vaporized.

Are you using cartomizers or atomizers & cartridges?

If you're using a cartomizer, it could be a defective one. Try a new cartomizer and see if the burnt taste is still there.

If you're using cartridges, make sure that there's enough juice in the cartridge. Simply remove the cartridge and have a look at the filler material inside. Does it look wet or dry? Add a couple of drops of ejuice....as long as it doesn't overflow.

I am using a drip tip, and I drop about 3 drops every 6 puffs or as soon as I notice vapor reduction. The strange thing is even after I just drip it reacts the same way.. I am not unsatisfied with the production of vapor I get when only holding it down for 4 seconds but I am not sure why that extra second or two more creats more vapor and a harsh taste? Thank you for your help...

PG wont give you a ton of vapor anyway - not the same as if its mixed with VG, even 10% VG will give a good amount of vapor - and I wonder if youre getting hte burnt taste BECAUSE youre holding the button down too long trying to get more vapor?
I drip and use a 510 (which is the same as an Ego - cept the ego has a longer battery life than a standard 510 one) on a PT, and I just timed it - usually 3-4 seconds hold is the most I do. I get a lot of vapor off that, but all my juices are PG/VG mixes.

...a second or two before drawing and then continue to press the button for another 4-5 seconds....

The 510 has a pretty hot atty and holding the button for 5 -7 seconds sounds too long. I do about 4 seconds which generates massive vapor...but I vape vg.

Also, eliminate the 1-2 seconds before drawing...not necessary with the 510 (or eGo) imo. For me, this step doesn't make a noticeable difference.

Congrats on your 23 days!!

it sounds like you might have some burn residue in your atty

it could of came from accidental firing without any eliquid in the atty while it was in your pocket

or like what i did with one of my atties, i thought i should try a dry burn cleaning, that pretty much ruined the atty. now whenever i try vaping with that atty all i taste is burnt flavor reminiscent of toaster crumbs - and yes i have tried it, thats that you get when you mix friends, beer, and boredom

The burnt taste probably comes from the primer. I got a batch of mega attys from TW, and they all had that terrible burnt taste. TW said that they normally do not replace attys, but in my case they agreed to swap them out.

Sometimes, cleaning helps. I blow steam from my frother on my espresso machine through the attys, let them dry overnight, and then prime. Unless you are a coffee nut like I am, you do not need an expensive espresso machine but can buy steamers for less than $50 at one of the big chains. Ultrasonic jewelry cleaners with denatured alcohol work well too. They can be found for around $20 in the jewelry departments of most large department stores.

You should clean your attys at least once a week, anyway, and re prime.

Nothing helped these mega attys.

Could it be that the atty is crudded up? When I get that taste, its time to give the atty a bath, I use peroxide, soak the atty, for a couple hours, flush it out with warm water, blow out and let dry, over night, seems to work for me. Oh you might go to Wally World and pick up a can of compressed air, and use that, works wonders.
