Burning and gumming

As a newbie I been searching the forums for information and want to say this place is a wealth of information and I thank you for being here. My main question is about burning and gumming.
I been vaping about six weeks now and I mainly use CE4 clearomizers and TS3 clearomizers. Also use a Kanger pro II & pro III plus a nautalus and a few drippers. I kinda went off the deep end with the new hobbie and turned into a flavor junkie. My vaping technique usually is I will do 3 or 4 ten to fifteen second slow mouth draws at a time then wait a min or so and do it again. After a while doing this I will start to get a burnt taste and its hot. Then I will switch to another flavor and do the same again. Am I harming my clearomizer by doing this and is the burning flavor a sign I need to either rebuild it or replace it? After it cools down the burning flavor is gone.

And for gumming I have a couple flavors that use to draw great, have good vapor exhale yet the vapor seems to sow down to almost non exsistant after a few days use. Is this gumming up, for the flavor and throat hit are still good, just no vapor or very little on exhale. This mainly happens with dark juices and vapin plus rich tobacco's is one of my favorites that does it all the time.

I have found that most of the clearos I have used don't hold up to long pulls and taste burnt and nasty after about 5 seconds. After that the coil/wick is done for and needs to be replaced because I can't stand the burnt taste that gets left behind. I would then go into panic mode and manage to burn the coils in every other clearo in sight trying to get my fix.

Then I bought a nautilus mini and it has been much better, but I have to play with the wattage on my VV3 and the afc on the mini if I want long drags with no burnt taste.

I really think that the silica wick is to blame, to me it does not seem to wick very well. I'm just over 2 months into vaping and I've switched to using a nautilus mini and Kayfun mini clone, while rebuilding the coils from my clearos for having a variety of flavors available. I'm also using rayon for wick and 30g Kanthal in the KF mini and clearos. This change has made all the difference for me.

I picked up a lot of the CE4's on Ebay so have over 20 of them and also picked up 10 of the kanger TS3's as well s have 10 of the MT3's on the way. I like the smaller tanks because they fit easy in a pocket for on the go. I too dont like the burnt taste and at times it takes a bit before the burnt taste goes away. I have a patriot RDA but my lungs cant take even a light hit with them for some reason. I might be because I did a Rip Tripper dual coil build thats running at .02 ohms. Might be just too hot for me. Hope with time I will be able to use it more.
Yet am I hurting my clearomizers by getting them as hot as I do? I had them too hot to touch a few times. And with my vapin plus rich tobacco juice, am I gumming up or maybe too much PG, I donno but hope someone might know the answer and an easy fix.

As new guys, when do we know its time to rebuild or replace our coils? How do we know its gumming up or is what I am experiencing even a problem with my dark liquids.

I have been using a VTR with an Iclear 30S on it with a 1.8ohm coil. I can vape sweet liquids for weeks without a burned taste. I too make fairly long draws when I vape. you might have the device set too high and burning your liquid and coil. I generally vape at about 11.5 to 13 watts.

I agree that your issue may the small silica wicks. I've used T3's for over a year and have been rebuilding my coils using rayon
with great results. It's not unusual to get 15 tanks on one coil and rayon has eliminated ALL burning taste issues. I would therefore suggest you seriously look into rebuilding your own coils.

.02 ohms??? .18 is the lowest ever one should go with a single 18650 30A battery.... are you sure he said .02 and not .20.... if he said .02 I will even have to email him on that one.... sheesh...

Hi guys, an update on this is I did some digging around and found a ton if info on the web. I took apart a CE4 clearomizer that had a burnt taste and wasnt drawing to well anymore and found a ton of burnt gunk in it. I pulled the coil out and with some 32G Kanthal and cotton rebuilt it and it draws excellent now. 3.1 ohm was the end results which seems high to me but it works great. Then I took a clearomizer like a protank that had a constant burnt taste and took it apart. The coil and wick did not look burnt or bad but I rebuilt it anyways. Took three tries before I had an acceptable 1.78 ohm reading but its vaping good now with a decent flavor.

With the vapin plus rich tobacco that I love I mixed with some RY4 and and now on the exhale I have an ok amount of vapor exhale so that problem is also solved.

One thing I would like to ask is where did you find the rayon wicks at minitank. I searched google and ebay and didnt find anything that I thought would be suitable.
