Hmmm judging from what you just wrote I may have indeed done something wrong. My filler wasn't sticking out to the very edge, it was pushed back a bit. I purposely pushed it back because it kept getting stuck to the atomizer head and I thought that was bad. Its crazy how many of these little tiny things make a huge difference in how everything works. When it came to real cigarettes, a monkey could smoke one without any problems. why does the healthier option have to be the much more complicated one? haha

Oh yeah and my juice is colorful, not particularly dark. and it's sorta sweet, candy flavored. I never knew juice flavor makes a difference! I vape mostly for the deliciousness of it (I've been off real cigs for so long that I don't require nicotine/tobacco anymore) so yeah, awesome flavor is important. is there any particular model that would be great at handling sweet liquids? or just in general a easier and lower maintenance one, that isn't as easy as pie to mess up. that's what I'm in the market for.

hopefully my water bath will work, I'll let it a dry a bit first. thanks for your help!

You is welcome. :D

Some times polyfill just does that and sticks to the atty. It might be an indicator that that particular atty is running hotter than average, if it's sticking and singeing a bit as well. If it's not looking singed on the end... eh - some times it just happens.

Don't know if you were paying attention but: what color is/was the water the atty simmered in? Did it turn any shade of yuck? The darker the water the more gunk was in the atty.

When it comes to that whole thing about which liquids gunk things up the fastest - it's trial and error. It's the sweeteners and the flavorings that get burned onto any coil on any device over time. Some companies flavorings seem to be worse than others... In general the sweeter and darker the liquid the faster it happens. I've run The Vapor Room Cuban in a Kanger clearo for 9 days straight before I had to clean it. (It's an almost water clear tobacco flavor.) But Chocolate Fudge Brownie? 36 hours - tops.

Look into Kanger bottom coil clearomizer devices as part of your upgrade path. They can't be practically used with your 510 batteries though. The Kanger stuff works well, is easy to fill, and the coil is much easier to clean than a 510 atty. And they can be easily rebuilt even if you like to tinker. Cost wise? You can get a replacement coil for a Kanger clearo for about $1.50 average. And I know you paid a heck of a lot more for that new atty!

Technology wise, a lot has changed since you started with that kit. I started with an eGo kit with a 510 atty/cart. set up. I know exactly what you are dealing with there.

Gotta ask: What's the back story? Why did you drop vaping and did you go back to smoking when you did?

ooh yes I remember the name Kanger from when I was browsing some products earlier this week. it stuck out to me because it had a glass tank which looked very attractive and well made. is that what you are referring to exactly, the tank system? I'm pretty sure 'clearomizer' is usually associated with tanks, but I'm still learning all of my proper vaping vocabulary. but yeah that would definitely interest me. and of course I know I'd need a new battery, also WANT one too (this current one's life is terrible, 1-2 hours max). does it have to be the same brand of battery (kanger) or just any stronger one? oh and I forgot to mention that the website I first saw the pretty glass tank on was mentioned as sold out. maybe you can point me in the direction of a good place to order a set up for that brand? I've kinda just stuck to one site this whole time buying my atomizers.
well, story is that I started vaping and although I really enjoyed it, after like 5+ atomizers within a few months, I just couldn't find myself able to afford anymore. plus, after experience that horrible burning taste so many times it kinda just lost its appeal for me also :(. I knew that the hardware was the problem though, not the juice. so in early 2012 I just put down my 510 and promised myself I'd start saving up for something better. but life comes with so many other money sucking instances, that a year and a half later I still don't have that 'extra' money that would be safe to spend. but I found myself craving smoking a bit again last month, so I figured I;d just settle for buying a new atomizer for the old 510 in the meantime, and this time I am much more serious about the saving for an upgrade (as well as more desperate, now that I've gotten a taste of vaping again). I sure missed it. as for real cigs, I have smoked a few here and there while out with friends but I am no longer attached in a way that would make me start purchasing them again. but I guess those few did start making me have occasional cravings again, which I fixed by trying to go back to vaping.

You can really get whatever battery you like. What matters is the connection. The two most widely used connections are the 510 threads and ego threads. To give you an example, if you google the Vamo V3 (which is a mod) it has both connections, so you can use both tanks such as the Kanger Protank2 and the Kanger EVOD. If you google the Provari (another mod) that one only has the 510 threads, so you can use a Protank2 on it, but not the EVOD…unless you get an adapter, which are cheap. As far as online stores I shop from a few. For me personally I have had GREAT customer service from MyVaporStore.com. They have a good selection so you can get a feel for what you might like.

oh and new update regarding the current burnt atomizer:

just tried using it again after last nights hot water bath. sadly the burning taste is still there. mayyybe a little less, but its still there. I'm willing to try the dry burn now, if thats the next step. *sigh* I'm so sick of this thing and all its issues.

That's a good start. Depending on how much you vape a 650mah battery won't last all day. If you are a light vaper then it should be fine. Also, the spinners aren't pass-through, meaning you can't use them while they charge. Also, order replacement coils for the Protank2. The 1.8-2.2 ohm ones are the best IMO. With those start around 3.5 volts and if you want a little more you can turn the voltage up little by little. That being said you will be happier than with your current set up. Also, I don't know if I or someone else mentioned this, check out MtBakerVapor for juices. Good stuff at the best prices. Plus if you spend $15 they send you a free sample. What some people don't know is that when you go to checkout you can request to try a certain juice at the ratios you want, otherwise they will send you a random sample.

the cartrage sucks its one of the first devilry systems out there. The only way it could be more ancient is if it had blue foam! It sucks some of these venders prey on new people and sell them crap!

Do you have a drip tip? Just drip a couple of drops directly in to the atomizer and direct drip. Then get you some cartomizers or a clearo and you'll be lots happier.

A dry atty can do that to you too. Did you try dripping 2 -3 drops directly onto that mesh in the atty before putting the cartridge on? If it's tasting harsh and not producing vapor - dry atty.

thanks, Keith. I'm looking on the site right now. I have a good combo for a set up in mind, I wanted to ask what you guys think.

Kanger Protank 2 Pro Tank Glassomizer
+
Joyetech Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery

only about 45 bucks combined, not bad at all! almost half of what I paid for my old 510 back in the day, actually.

I absolutely cannot wait for my future upgrade! :D

That works!

This can be a confusing category at this point. It's glass - but it's still a clearomizer. Other sites you will find the ProTanks under clearomizers.

You could go cheaper and get a Kanger T3s, Mt3s or EVOD. But the "gotcha" there is they all are a plastic tank or have plastic in them. Certain flavorings interact with the plastic in clearos and cause it to crack, shatter or dissolve. If you use any clearo that has a plastic tank or plastic view window in it you have to pay attention to what flavor you want to use and whether that flavor is ok with plastic. If you get a glass ProTank the whole matter is a non issue.

Considering how little you vape you may want to consider the Protank 2 Mini too. Same deal - just in a smaller size.

Cignot is a good dealer too. Authorized Joyetech and Kanger dealer - no fakes or knockoffs. They have all the Kanger stuff and eGo Twists.

my atomizer is always kept wet. I do dripping quite often and sadly there isn't much change in the way it tastes. it seems to be producing a good amount of vapor, but just has a weird burning taste. it seems to be less bad during the first couple hits immediately after dripping. how often should one drip though? I don't want to flood the thing.

oh well, luckily only a few more days of this. I'm going to try to order something new asap. oh and yes I didn't know there was a mini tank - I'm definitely probably going to go with that. the bigger one would be a little awkward for me with a small battery. also, I just found out about the pass through battery and will be getting that instead of a twist one for sure! I love the idea of that.

question - I'm looking at the protanks on both different sites you guys linked me (myvaporstore and cignot) and one site states that the protank comes with 2 atomizer heads and the other site says it comes with 2 coils. are these the same thing?
