Is it possible for an atomizer to start tasting bad permanently when too much voltage is driven once? Or does the atty simply go out for good when it's actually done?

I drove 7.4v to a 510 atty and got the massive burnt plastic taste right away. I thought it just went dry, which was weird when I just dripped. Well I've been dripping ever since back on less voltage and it still tastes like crap. Is this atty done for good? I'm not sure what physically is causing that taste now.

I drove an atomizer at 3 amps and 5v, that's 15w, and I still was not getting enough throat hit. It's like my lungs are immune. When I went to 7.4v that was up over 25w.

I need to build a 30w capable cig of my own and I know how to do it. Parallel attys on twin 26500s.

More than likely , if it was a new atty .You zaped the primer juice with alot of heat and it burned , and sort of coated yuor atty . Try a good cleaning (soaking ) for an extended period , in vodka , or some ever-clear. then , rinse with hot water , blow out , and let dry overnight . Not as drawn out , as it sounds .

The wick inside the atomizer can become burnt and will hold a burnt taste no matter how much you clean it. When this happens you can dewick the atomizer removing the wick and the issue. This should only be done if you are dripping. You can also remove the bridge too to increase performance. Youtube has some great videos on how to debridge / dewick.

It's very hard to actually burn the wick with the amount of power these PV's provide. If anything, the juice / primer got charred onto the wick which is why doing a vodka soak will clean it. Submerge in vodka soak for 30 min, tap lightly to break any charred juice free, continue soaking for another 30 min. Once done soaking, blow out from battery end until no more vodka comes out. Do not rinse with water as this will only decrease the life of the atomizer even further. If the taste is still bad, then try removing the wick but be prepared for the possibility of damaging the coil and rendering the atty unusable. Good luck.
