Burnt Fingers from a bad Carto

The day before yesterday I opened up a brand new box of Cartos so that I could try out my new bottle of Bandit Berry juice. Within a matter of moments after I started to vape away I noticed my fingers were getting quite warm. All of a sudden my fingers got extremely hot! I dropped the E-cig immediately and looked at a raising Blister on my fingers. Then I picked up the E-cig and saw that the filter had over heated and blistered up the red tape around the carto.

I thought it was just a fluke, so I changed to another red carto. It did the same thing! In fact, every Carto in the box have done the same thing! I should not have done it, but I threw away all of the Bad Cartos without even thinking. I guess I'll call V4L and talk to them on Monday.

The burnt cartos didn't look bad when I filled them and when I used them they didn't look bad on the inside; but they sure got HOT and tasted Terrible when it happened!

Has anyone else had this happen to them before?

The battery is just great. I have been using it ever since the episode. So far no more burnt cartos and no more burnt fingers.

By the way, I Love that Bandit Berry Flavor!

Too bad you don't have a carto left to test the resistance. It must have been pretty close to zero. Glad your battery is okay.

That's classic and where 99.9% of all cartos burn. A couple of quick ?s, Wow or Cool, auto or manual, what way were you using to fill?

I have had this happen....it's was quite awhile ago...it was with a box of Cool Cartos...the polyfill was wrapped so tightly it simply wouldn't absorb thoroughly which created a dry spot on the wick tube. I wonder if this is an old box of cool cartos.

i had a set of cool carts that did that too.. well 3 out of 5. I syringe fill to start so i will assume it is like snow said. Now I fill my cartos and let them sit for a night to make sure they absorb equally

Was the hole in the middle of the white filler material fairly centered before you filled it? Seems like the atomizer was possibly too close or touching the carto outer wall. ???

The filler was packed pretty tight but it absorbed 25 drops of juice quite well, the wire looked like it was well centered, and it was indeed a WOW filter. Come to think of it, all of the filters were pretty tightly packed because it took quite a while for the liquid to absorb. Then I left them sit over night to make sure that the juice made it all the way to the bottom.

This is the first time I have ever had a filter do this. I'm still using a bunch of my old filters that I keep cleaning and reusing, so it really made me scratch my bald head!

GPR, I have had this happen occasionally with gold WOW blanks. I use black WOW blanks equally......have never had this happen with them. When it has happened with the gold blanks, the rest of the box would seem ok. I've had it happen while using both autos and manuals. I notice it a lot more quickly when using an auto because more of my hand is on the carto area than when I use a manual. Because it has happened infrequently I just chalked it up to that occasional bad carto.

GPR sir this is why it's always suggested to use a syringe with thicker juices, or at least using the taryn spin method. Even if it's absorbed into the polyfill doesn't always mean it's gotten to the wick....
