One of my mechanical mods, the Roller Clone, is doing something crazy. Last night I had fired it up as usual, hit the button and the button instantly became so hot it left a small blister on my finger. Take the efest 18650 battery out, it seems warm but nothing crazy.

I rescrew everything back together, put the carto tank on and without even hitting the button it's firing. It only stops when I unscrew the carto tank, haha. The tank works fine on my other mods so something is up with the Roller.

I have 2 heads for it so I even changed heads, fired it up with a different carto tank and it fired but when I unscrewed the bottom to check if the battery was warm, holy sh!+, the bottom cap was so hot it left a burn mark on my finger that still doesn't tickle.

What could be going on with this thing? 2 different heads same extreme heat issue? All there is is the head, body and bottom cap...

Incident (A) Damaged the Main Spring
The Head likely had a Spring Failure. This was likely brought on be running LOW ohms and weakening over time or a Dead short situation, but you said the topper still works. Did you verify Ohms of the device?

Incident (B) likely was from attempting to use a now damaged device without properly checking and correcting First.

Sigelei #20 has a BAD design FLAW. The switch works by flexing a tightly coiled spring sideways to close the circuit. It can become distorted and lose strength. It can get stuck to the contact post by arching.

Sigelei #20 is best used for vaping in the 1.3ohm-2.0ohm range with coils of a lighter gauge.

How do I know? Lots of research/Reading and I own 2. Both work excellent in my applications.

The Sigelei #20 is famous for that kind of thing. I checked it out myself, being that I've always wanted a Roller but can't afford one, and when I got a look at the firing mechanism in it I wrote it off then and there. That's a really poorly engineered button mechanism, and I wouldn't pay money for a mech like that. I vape at .8 ohm, and no way would I risk doing it with that!

Thanks for that info Vaslovik. Funny thing is I built a .8 ohm coil and used it 2 days ago on this mod. Must have been what did it in but it didn't actually start doing this until the following day about 1/4 carto tank later after removing the rba.

Yep, likely that was what weakened the switch spring.
You need to Sand the Bottom spring, bottom and top and make sure it didn't collapse.

* Better Yet - Order this one: Replacement Hot Spring - Silver Bullet/Omega - AltSmoke and replace the Original. I changed Both of mine and it made a vast difference in current transfer and performance.

Original looked like this:

The switch can be updated with good results. I just don't fix what isn't yet broken.
A simple Sleeve over the upper pin and removal of the junk contact spring would allow equal contact alignment. Not sure why they didn't do that.
They also had a totally different first design - looked safer - that never came out. Probably to costly or to different for modders to accept.

That's good info right there. Crazy thing is it's a 2ohm carto tank on it and even after changing heads it still did it.

For the record, I gave you this info in one of your older threads last week. Not looking for credit or anything, but perhaps you didn't see it.

But yeah, the switch is damaged now. The head you have with the black ring around the button should be the newest design, which I believe does not have the current-carrying bendy spring in it. Use that one.

Sorry Cloudz I appreciate that. That head does the same thing and this was the first time I even used it which I don't understand. Maybe it's the hot spring? It does look discolored.
