Hey Vapors,
I have seen a ton of posts with people asking about "burnt taste" and I have noticed that this is not specific to any one type of devise but it happens to all devises... so here is some advise.

Burnt is Burnt....you will not get the taste out...only thing to do is re-wick....or replace the coil assembly.

Vodka does not make burnt disappear.
Washing your coil head does not make burnt disappear.
A Catholic Priest cannot preform a exorcism on your coil and send burnt to hell.

The real mystery is "How did I burn this"?
This is a true mystery, but most of the time it happens when to much "Voltage" was applied to a coil.
Sometimes it happens when Voltage is applied to a "Dry" coil.
BUT there are times when they just burn...I have done it with a 3.7fixed volt ego batt for no reason it just burnt...so i deal with it.

In all cases of Burnt...you must re-wick or change the coil to get the taste right.

This does not apply to ss mesh wicks in rba's...I am specifically speaking about the silica wicked popular clearomizers and the insulator material found in them..and the filler material in most Cartomizers

I don't agree. Specially with a new head, and a new liquid.

Some people tend to set their voltage up too high from the beggining and don't give a new head time to break in. The burnt taste also could be a component of the liquid you're vaping that doesn't like high voltage.

In a worn head, I agree, throw away or rewick. That's what I do with my own T3 heads.

let me clarify....If you burn your wick or insulator or the filler material to the point of fouling the flavor...there is no fixing it...Ok now if you want to disagree that's fine but do this before you argue the point....burn one...singe that sucker good get that tasty fried coil smoke going good....ok ...now fix it....

my point is not that certain things burn it, or what creates burnt taste...its simply the you cant fix a truly burnt coil or burnt insulator.

Problem is, that some wicks come with primer... That's why in certain brands the burnt taste is aftermanufacturing chemicals.

Certain brands like Vapeonly can benefit of wetting wicks before first use. They're packed so tightly that if you vape it dry it'll burn your wick.

Dry burning should be done after cleaning, it does burn wicks if you do it dry.

If you burn a silica wick so bad that the burnt taste is permanent, you were definitely doing something wrong. I’ve gotten burnt tasting hits from clearos many times for different reasons. After I fixed the problem, the burnt taste went away. Of course, cotton wicks and carto filler materials are flammable when dry.

I have been vaping since Aug. 2011. I have been thru dozens of cartos and clearos in that time. Many times I have gotten a burnt taste out whatever I was using. I take them apart, wash them out with hot tap water and rinse with distilled water. I used to dry burn them right after I cleaned them but they don't really get dry burned until they are dry so now I put them on top of my boiler and dry them overnight and then dry burn them. It takes a lot less clics to get them clean than when they are wet. I dry burn them until no more smoke comes out of them. My fav clearo is the CE4+ v2 from Discount Vapers(it has the long wicks). I am still using some CE4+ v1 that are approx. a year old and some CE4+ v2 that are up to 9-10 months old with the original wick and coil. They are working great! I vape 6-9 ml a day. After cleaning and dry burning I don't ever get a burnt taste. I do get bad tastes with new clearos so I wash them out first and dry burn them. I think I have only burnt out one coil while dry burning. When I was dry burning them while wet I would sometimes do the dry burn 15 or more times to get out all the gunk, now doing them after they dry I only do 5 or less. I clean mine out after-at most- 2 days. It takes me 5 minutes or less to clean them.

True, but...

More often than not the burnt tatse is due to improper wicking. If the coil and wick are not fully soaked, it will burn.... Example...

My vobcc.. out of the box it burned the juice horribly, so I tore it apart, and realized the coil was wrapped so tight, it was choking the wick, and not enough juice was getting to it. I re-wrapped and left the coil a bit more loose, and voila... Not even 6v burns it on a 1.8 ohm coil now.
Vivi nova... The wick will not bring juice up to the coil instantly without tilting/twirling(I didnt know that at 1st) Try to vape it too quickly, and its burnt forever...
