Burnt taste with drip shield??

I'm using a drip shield with a cisco 306 1.5. I'm using a vamo at 11 watts, where I typically vape. Though with the drip shield the draw is tight and I get a burnt taste. You know the burning car crash vape. Any tips for improving the performance with the drip shield on?

Try boring out the airhole in the shield.

I think it was an airflow problem. It was a china drip shield came with one air vent. So I took my dremel and put two slots in the sides at the top. It's getting the airflow it needs now. I have empiremods one on order so hopefully it'll work more ideally.

You might also want to reduce the wattage as well. That will also contribute to the burnt taste that your experiencing right now. A drip shield has very little to do with that situation. Besides effecting the draw obviously.

Actually I'm an idiot... I didn't have the drip shield moved far enough down and it was partially blocking the intake on the atomizer. I'm all good now lol.

Haha! No, not an idiot, it's human nature to sometimes look over the obvious. One time i was fiddling around, trying to suck hard to pull up the juice that was trapped in the drip shield and was wondering why the heck I couldn't get any air. Turns out i had fingers on BOTH the air holes on the shield

I went through this when I tried to use a drip shield (now I hate them). What I discovered is the accumulation of oil inside the outer atty wall and inner drip shield wall give the FALSE "gurgle" sound that there is still oil in the atty. This made it seem like the atty had oil when it was actually dry! Of course it then tasted like crap. I got tired of trying to remember how much oil was in there and tossed the shield. My solution was going back to my old Prodigy V2 which has the best reservior ever and prevents run off and an oily mess.

Hi - I use a Cannon drip tip with my LR306 and am quite happy with it. I'm going to have to search on drip shields. I've read posts about people using them, but I'm unclear on the concept

Well I got a cherryvape universal drip tip and it fixed my problems with the draw. I'm really enjoying the 306/universal/ds/ ming drip tip setup.

Ha that's awesome, I also often have the 306/universal/drip shield/ming style dt (ceramic) thing going on. The cherryvapes universal paired with an empiremods ds really changed my appreciation for a 306.
