Atty could be getting clogged and should be cleaned. Change atty's, make sure to prime the new one with a few drops of e-juice and give it another try. You can find great videos on youtube for cleaning atty's. I am sure you will get more responses and more info. I hope this helps. Remember thick (VG heavy) juice will clog the atty faster.

If you're asking about the dry burn thing, I don't do it. Of course I only use Menthol which is practically clear. I don't use any of the dark stuff.

My cleaning procedure:
  • Soak overnight in warm water,
  • rinse,
  • put them in a sonic cleaner with warm water for 9 minutes (3-3 minute cycles),
  • blow them out from the spike end,
  • soak them in PGA to displace any water left to get rid of any impurities left by the water (this step can be omitted if you use distilled water),
  • then drip 3 drops of juice down the spike to prime it.

Well don't have sonic cleaner and don't plan on getting one can I skip step. And what do u use to blow it out.
Sonic cleaner is not really necessary. I just happened to have one on hand.

I use a syringe with a short piece of vinyl tubing on the end that the head will slip into and pump it back and forth to suck/blow the excess water out. Just blowing with your mouth will do the same thing, just blow through the spike end to make sure the wick stays seated against the coil.

Once you remove the spike plate there should be a short length of wick sticking out the bottom (flat side of the spike plate). This is the part that touches the coil and will usually be dark, or black. Hold the spike plate by the spike with a pair of pliers or tweezers and hold over a hot flame. I wouldn't use a cigarette lighter or candle because they are not hot enough and will leave carbon deposits on the wick. You need something that produces a blue flame such as a butane or acetylene torch or the flame of a gas cooking stove.

If the wick gets pulled out of the spike, use a pair of tweezers and grip the wick right below the metal cap and push it in from the flat side until the top of the cap is flush with the lower part of the angled cut of the spike.

If you still don't get proper flow you may need to adjust the height of the wick in the spike.
Lowering it will increase flow and raising it will decrease flow.
