I'm having trouble with getting a burnt taste in my phoenix dripper. I used to be able to wrap a coil with the paper clip method and cheesecloth and have a 50/50 chance of getting a burnt taste. Well I can't do it anymore. I just made like 10 coils with varying thicknesses of cheesecloth and every single one tastes burnt. I've pretty much given up on cheesecloth. I've tried the drill bit method pulling the cheesecloth through and every single one tastes burnt. I'm pretty much going to either give SS a try or just switch to bridgless 510 atomizers. I'm always reading about SS being harder... how come? I imagine it would be a lot easier and you wouldn't run into problems with a burnt taste.

If you're getting a burnt taste with cheesecloth, I'd imagine it's because the wick isnt wicking properly and you're dry burning some of the cheesecloth. Have you tried silica or Ekowool?

SS doesnt get rid of burnt taste, however, it is harder to get to that point. From personal experience, if your coil isnt properly contacting the wick causing hot-spots, it can burn the liquid which may gunk up the wick. It can affect the taste of every vape until you clean it out and dry burning a bit to burn off the gunk.
