Hi guys,

I've finally got through my sore throat issues (just went away), but now I have a burnt tongue. It's especially bad on the tip of my tongue, and it feels like I've scolded it with a hot drink. It's even a bit red and bumpy.

Could this just be because I'm over-filling the carts and I'm getting juice on my tongue? ? I think it started when I began dripping a little over a month ago, though. I'm only using 0 nic juice, too, so would getting PG on the tongue be enough to burn it? I puff on my e-cig like a cigar or pipe, taking multiple drags in a row to heat up the atomizer and bring out the flavour. This atty has been going for months.

I really don't have an answer to your question. I've had those on my tongue before I started vaping. It could have something to do with what you ate or drank because I don't see how 0 juice would cause a problem.

If it's very painful or lasts a while, you might have to ask a medical professional but mine always went away fairly quickly.

Sorry I couldn't help.

Might not be the juice. You could be scratching your tongue on a rough tooth edge or a roughness on the mouthpiece. Trouble is once that starts it's hard to consciously stop doing it.
I drip, but I leave a cart there just to act as a filter and barrier to any loose juice. I don't put juice in the cart, just check that the surface doesn't dry out.

There are mouth ulcer remedies that might help. Dunno if you have Bonjela or Rinstead gels in Canada - Bonjela is nice - tastes of liquorice.

hope it clears up soon for you.

I went through a phase of burnt tongue (sore throat too), but once I started drawing slowly on the vp instead of sucking the life out of it (like I did with smokes--I'd burn an analog in less than 2 mins) my burnt tonque and sore throat issue went away. I figured I was constantly spraying my mouth and throat with small amounts of un-atomized liquid and it was making me raw. Slow and steady made all the difference in the world.

I also get the numb tongue once in a while with some liquids. I think I have a slight allergy to a flavoring or two that gets used in a some of the online recipes and now just avoid those particular flavors.

No issues now.

Thanks for all your replies!

I just took my bottle of Tennesee Cured PG 0 nic and put a drop of liquid* on the tip of my tongue. Wow! I sure felt that, all the way down my throat. Perhaps you are right, anim8r, that sucking too hard on it is putting some juice in my mouth - the drop test proves that it doesn't take much to feel it. I originally started out taking long drags, but I found out that the taste is so much better if I keep puffing hard on it and really heating up the atomizer. I have been using the same atty for months, so maybe it's time I replace it. Or switch to a manual battery.

Oh yeah, and I've also started the habit of holding the e-cig in my mouth like a regular cig. The tip does get wet from my mouth, so maybe the juice is coming out with the, uh, backwash? :rolleyes: (I read that elsewhere.)

Another thing I do is vape most of the time outside where I don't carry any water around with me.

I'm going to let my tongue heal for a bit. I'm going to the doctor's next month, too, so if it hasn't improved by then, I'll get him to take a look.

* Don't try that with nicotine! 8-o
