What I know about that kind of buttons:
The more bigger the button, the more easily you hit the button outside of the center, the more easily you can't press it down anymore, the more you have to deliver a perfect work with tight fitting on the buttons.

The big buttons from Tom Abrahamson are used on the Made in Germany Leica M-Modells. The smaller buttons are made for the high quality Leica copies, like the Voigtlaender.

If anyone is getting sore fingers from using their Reo's, they're jamming the button down too hard. I don't feel like I need to apply THAT much pressure to the button for it to work. I'm supporting the change more for the form factor (bigger fingered folks will love it more!) than the functionality of it.

My 2 cents!

I agree with you for the most part. With the old style firing pin there was typically more pushing needed. Also, the older buttons I have, on the oldest REOs, have a little pimple, in the center. Some are more prominent than others. That can cause some discomfort after pressing, a lot, even if not pressing hard.

DH (76.5 year old, arthritic hands) clarified for me, last night, that the main issues he has with the metal REO buttons are, 1) that it is so small, and 2) where it is located on top of the REO instead of like the button on the Woodvils and Woodys.

DH would be in "heaven" if a metal Mini or Midi had a wired side button like found on the Woods.

Rob those do look great!!! I didnt really care one way or the other sence I'm happy with the original button... But I do have to say after seeing the add on button you made I do like it and would definently get a couple.

One question though. Will the button add-on effect the throw of the switch with flat top batteries?
( I don't use them in my REO just curiose ).

It will effect of the throw it will still make contact with a flat top battery . People really shouldn't be using a flat top battery in the mod.
