I am looking to upgrade from my vv/vw batteries to a true mod. While a Provari would be nice it is not in the budget right now. It is on the buy list but will probably be next year.

Currently i vape my Kanger Areotank 2's and Pro Tank 2's between 4 and 4.4 volts depending on juice. I dont really have an interest in cloud chasing, high wattage/voltage, contest style vaping. I am simply looking for something to give a better quality and flavor vape and stay off the analogs.

So researching what is out there it seems like the SVD might not be a bad choice since i am not a fan of box mods but am wondering if the "coming soon" 2.0 would be a better upgrade.

Being a first timer getting into true mods (been vaping a little over a year) i am curious if the 2.0 upgrades would be worth it for my intended usage.

Thanks in advance for any and all input and/or suggestions.

Innokin just announced on their Facebook page that the SVD 2.0s are currently shipping so they should be available from retailers soon. The SVD 2.0 will have an American manufactured Evolv chip with smooth power output. The 5–20 watt chip will step down enough to handle thick juice in a clearo as well as giving you enough power to grow into a rebuildable tank or small chambered dripper should you choose to go that route in the future.

Paul from Evolve mentioned in this ECC 2014 interview that the SVD 2.0 is designed to be repairable. Also, the SVD 2.0 will be the first product to use Innokin's new registration and U.S. repair system according to Paul on Innokin's subbreddit.

I will be interested in getting the v2 after the v1 I had this year finally craps out. While the v1 has been fun and has a great form factor, I've had to send it back for the faulty button. The button on the replacement is still unreliable, but I've just learn to deal with it. I only paid $37 for it from a non-authorized vendor.

I believe Innokin will replace the button if you were to pay the extra $20+ from a reputable dealer. So then you'll be looking at some money closer to what the v2 will be starting out.

Called my local shop and they were extremely unhelpful and had no interest in even taking my call. I am going to stop at the other location they have where everyone knows me by name and see what they say. If they can't get me the svd 2.0 i am going to order a Sigelei Zmax v5. The svd 2 looks really nice but their units seem to be hit or miss for quality. Of course they do offer a US warranty if it all goes south.

On the flip side the zmax is 1/2 the price so that gets me $50 for more juice or to go into my Provari fund.

FWIW, I really got my money's worth out of my original SVD and MVP2. My SVD took a beating over a year and I never had any durability issues--it was a tank. Same with my MVP. The only thing I disliked about the SVD was the rattlesnaking. It was fine for powering standard clearomizers and tanks, but awful with any rebuildable. I've recently found it and my Vamo V2 (awful device) new homes.

I would have no qualms dropping $$$ on this next generation of innokin products, even if they start out around $100. I'm definitely curious as to what the MVP 3 is going to look like when they release it in a few months.
