I have quit analogs for over 3 years now from vaping. The 3.7 volt cheapies that I started with left me unsatisfied and broke a lot, not to mention having to be charged often.

$90 bucks plus 25 bucks for batteries and charger for a high quality mod seemed expensive...until the mod lasted almost exactly 2 years. Smokes are 6 bucks a pack for my brand here. At one pack a day it is $180 bucks a month. This adds up to $4320 in 2 years at one pack a day (I often smoked more than a pack a day).

And to think I did not want to fork over the money $115 for a high quality mod that would pay for itself by not breaking, as well as make my vaping experience much more satisfying...talk about being penny wise and pound foolish.

It's one of the things I would like to advise all newcomers, don't buy cheap junk ecigs. Getting away from tobacco is hard enough without fighting with the equipment! I learned (like you) buy good quality, and always have spares of everything.

3 years vaping hey? that is awesome... how does that feel? Are the health benefits we newcomers feel still with you, and have you found any negative health aspects to the vaping?

Olef as far as how I feel I can't say there is a huge difference between year one and year 3. However, there is a massive difference in how I feel now as compared to when I smoked. I carried my 9 year old daughter on my back across a huge bridge probably 200 feet long last year while at the Kansas City zoo and it was no problem, could have easily turned around and did it again. Would have made it 50 feet (maybe a lil more lol) and felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest if I attempted that while still smoking.

Back to the main point I see you have invested in a provari. Good investment both for your health and your wallet. Not to mention peace of mind, no need to worry about if the latest cheapo you bought is going to break. I bought a Darwin after my 2 year old Chuck broke. The Darwin has a 2 year warrantee, so I should be good for another 2 years at the bargain price of $230. Not much money at all compared to $4320 I should point out that in no way do I care if you buy a Darwin, just buy something good quality that has proper power and battery life and it will pay for itself as compared to buying cheap.

Cheaper kits are a great way to try an ecig.. and thats about it... :)
If it was not for a big reliable mod I would of never been able to quit. For me the Silver Bullet did it. Great tank built mod! It changed vaping for me back in 09! My original SB was passed on and still up and running!

So, yup.. it does seem expensive to jump in on a big mod wagon. But unless you get a "hoarding decease" one good mod will pay for itself many times!

Another plus for good, quality mods is that if a new vaper decides that vaping just isn't for them they can post the mod on the classifieds and recoup a healthy chunk of the money they invested. Of course, with a great mod it is most likely they will fall in love with vaping. Win, win either way.

I use ego's and riva's and I think they are very reliable. You can get them for $17.99 on LBF and they have great customer service, if you have trouble with them they will fix it! With mods you have to deal with buying them and the batteries too and it can be a bit of a hassle for a newbie.

I get that the higher quality (higher $$) equipment is best. But for "getting the word out" about vaping you can't beat the cheapie gas station models. These are the only vapes sold out in the general public around here. Not everyone goes to the mall to shop. Not everyone buys their cigs at smoke shops where they might have vaping supplies. (can't find a single one around here unless I go downtown).

I was a 1 to 1 1/2 pad smoker almost two weeks ago with no desire to quit. I was out of smokes and went to my local corner store. Saw a new display on the counter. "Hmmmm that would make travel so much easier if I didn't have to worry about non smoking properties" So I spent the $20 and I immediately cut my smoking down to 3-4 a day. Within a week of that I'm down to maybe one a day and have better equipment on the way and have no desire to continue to be a smoker. After 25+ years on the stink sticks this cheap ... thing has changed mine and my familys' lives. So it hurts my heart a little to see them put down so often.

My 2cents.

When I started, I wanted something that resembled a cig. So it was a 510, then Ego/Riva. I would probably still be using them if I hadn't want something more convenient then dripping. Now looks do not bother me because vaping is NOT smoking. I now use my bottom feeders esclusively. But it is because the 510 was successful.

I have not realized how lucky I am when it comes to my vaping experience. I have only been doing it since last Saturday and I am fortunate enough to have a great vapor shop close by. I was able to walk in there, purchase a custom PV, tank, juices and everything I needed. I walked out the door vaping and haven't picked up an analog since. 6volts of love is my vaping choice...I didn't want to start out small and work my way up and I didn't want to mess with batteries to the point I became OCD :p

Of course I would have had NO IDEA what 6 volts would do for me if it hadn't been for ECF! I LOVE YOU GUYS AND GALS!! This is the only place on the internet you can come and get honest advice and pointed in the right direction when you are ready to put down the analog and start enjoying a REAL vape! THANK YOU ECF!:toast:

When I started I too wanted something the size of a ciggy so I purchased a Greensmoke (it wasn't very cheap). One of the main reasons that I got the GS was because it came with a 30 day money back guarantee. The first day that I received the GS I knew it would not do. I then began a search for a 5volt mod. I decided on a GLV-2 and ordered it. I returned the GS after I ordered the GLV-2, within the 30 day limit. GS was very good about refunding. There was no hassle at all, they even refunded the cartridges that I used; a complete refund. I do commend GS for their hassle-free return policy, their product isn't that bad for a mini PV but their pricing was high for what you got. I'm just saying if you need to find out first hand how well you would like a certain type of PV make sure that they offer a fool proof return policy. Good luck.

Just started vaping about two weeks ago and once i get used to it i plan on switching to a mod. I read a few of the suggestions here but hope you guys keep throwing more names out. Was thinking about getting a Reo when i feel like switching to a mod or a prodigyv3.1 since my friend has one and it seems to work well for him. It was his first device that someone got him for his birthday so he had nothing to compare it with.

I'm so indecisive though...not sure what i want.

And the answer is, it depends. Here's a pretty basic explanation that I wrote a few months ago: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...884-explain-mods-me-please-2.html#post3025791

Basicly same ol' story...started cheap to see what this e-cig was all about then to keep it up found myself needing newer, better upgrades till I realized that Im spending a hell of a lot of $$ then took the leap to a top model...the REO and never looked back. Sure there are many top quality mods but they interest me as little as having a cigarette because Im satisfied with qhat I got. I spent more than enough trying to get to this point in vaping so trying something new isn't a need and more. When you find yourself there you'll know it.

I've kinda of done the opposite. I've been at it since Oct 09, and have had many cool, dependable mods. Maybe I just don't need as much now lol? I'm quite happy with the newer 808's as of the last 6 or 7 months(maybe longer). Still have all of my mods though, and am happy to loan one out to a pal. I can see where all the love comes from with the EGO style batteries as well. I absolutely love my IGO. It's been very dependable. Maybe I'm coming full circle with vaping, and am about ready to give it up?

Well everyone is different. I agree that someone like my boss who sucks a full strength Marlboro down in 30 seconds would do best to skip slim ecigs.

But for me, KR808D-1 manuals with 2.5 ohm cartos and 510 manuals with standard Boges are all I need or want most of the time. I did not even buy a 3.7v fat battery model (the Riva 510 at Liberty-flights, and a 14500 box mod) until I had gotten myself down to 6mg nicotine and I was thinking I might need LR cartos to keep me down at low nicotine. But I didn't. I use standard resistance Boges on it and it's plenty for me. 8 months with no cigs and no problem doing it.
