Buying and Using an Electronic Cigarette: A Primer

Hello all I am new to this forum and I guess you can say that I am still on the trial period but I would like to say that I wish I had sense enough to join this forum long ago. I’ve been vapeing since last August and I stopped smoking analog cigs on my birthday Sept 24 approx a month later. I did well for about 3 months until I caught a real bad sinus cold in December at that point I only had one flavor left and having the cold it tasted too nasty to vape so low and behold I started smoking my wife’s analog cigs. I believe that if I had a supply of different samples I would have found a flavor that was more bearable during my head cold. I started out vapeing the vapor king KR-808D-1 that is a two-component e-cig, a battery and a cartomizer. Out of laziness chose this e-cig because of the convenience of the cartomizer and juice replacement process. Even though the cartomizers are disposable which makes them appear to be more expensive, I found a way to clean them and reuse them several times, which made them very cost effective. At first I used the prefilled carts until I found what flavors I liked best and then I started buying the blanks which are much cheaper and juicing them up with my favorite e-juices.
Believe me I spent literally hundreds of dollars in the beginning on a starter kit and all the accessories that I thought I needed but now that I found exactly what juices, I like vapeing is very inexpensive compared to analog smoking. In regards to the auto or manual battery, I started out with the auto batty. however, it seemed to cut off before I got a good hit. I found the manual batty to be sufficient for my needs because of a longer draw and more vapor.
Now I vape the DSE601 pipe and I am in vape heaven, it is an auto draw system but I never experience a cut off it ( the atomizer ) stays on as long as I can pull. The carts for the pipe are the easiest to deal with compared to all other vapeing systems I’ve experienced and they hold a lot of juice and last days for me and are very easy to top off with a couple of drops. My main reason being here in this forum is to gather better research on e-juices and venders, I also advise anyone who is interested in starting the experience of vapeing or even a veteran vapor to utilize this forum to get advice in keeping up to date on their research to save valuable time, money and some headaches.

I'm not quite sure if it is in bad form for this to be my first post. I hope I am not excluding some required formality in the form of an introductions thread somewhere. If so, kindly redirect me. I'd make a great pilot, but when it comes to navigation I'm useless without that screen thing in my car that has a tiiiny little British woman living inside it.

Nutshell was what I was shooting for, so I'm glad it helped.
But the thing is, so much has changed since I wrote this.

Now they have high voltage atomizers (HV) which have higher resistance.
And they have low voltage atomizers (LR) which have lower resistance.
Varying the resistance significantly changes the vaping experience.

And now they have cartomizers, which are atomizer/cartridge combinations.
These are considered two-piece models, as opposed to three-piece models.

Also, dripping has become much more popular as well.
And so now they have drip tips, which are great!

Maybe I should update this some day and add more information.
Although that is sort of what I was trying to avoid in the first place.

Hi all,
I began vaping Thursday when my dse901 arrived. I read through this and many other posts before purchasing it. I am in love with vaping now, and have yet to smoke an analog since Thursday. I had my mother in law try my dse901, but she needs something with less resistance. Does anyone have a suggestion for something with less resistance than my dse901 for her? Thanks

Do you mean draw? How hard it is to inhale? About the only style I can think of which has an easier draw is the larger pen style e-cig which isn't too popular with people. The DSE801 is a good pen style.

But the draw of the DSE901 is easier than the draw on most e-cigs. This makes me think there's a problem. Your mom put her finger on the air hole in the atty perhaps? The atomizer was flooded? E-liquid has dried and clogged or partially clogged the atty air hole? Cartridge was empty? Those are ways to increase the draw, I'm sure there are others too this is just what comes to mind.

I have been vaping for three weeks now. I have a 510 and up until about three days ago I was smoking about 2 analogs only. Had plenty of vapor with my 510. But now I feel I am craving analogs more because I am not getting the same amount of vapor I was getting. I started with 14mg cartridges and then bought 18mg juice. Batteries blink when plugged and blink green every so often, so they are good. Could it be my atomizer??? Am I doing something wrong??? I tried dripping directly into the atty and that didn't work. I have tried 2-3 drops of juice, then 4-6 drops to see if I can see a difference in vapor, but I don't. I really don't want to start analogs, but I need the e-cigarette to give me my fix. I read about "mods" (????), cartomizers, etc. Can somebody explain this better. Maybe this will fix my problem. Thanks.

Sounds like your atomizer might need cleaning.

There are MANY recommended ways to clean your atomizer.

Have you tried a different atomizer though?

If not, you should, at least for trouble-shooting purposes.
And if you don't have another one, you should get one yesterday.

You absolutely have to have backup parts.

Thanks for your help. We figured out that with a manual battery, she has been able to use the dse901. So, all's well on that front.
