Buying Propylene Glycol

Hey Guys,

I tried to get some PG locally from my pharmacy and they said they only have the powder. Is there a way to make this into the liquid or should I pass on the powder? Other than the pharmacy is there any other stores that would sell PG locally? I live in California.

I haven't heard of using powder. I think that is the wrong thing. Tractor supply or another feed and farm store sell pg. Just make sure it is usp and sealed. I use the feed store pg but I will say I prefer the taste of the pg from onestopDIY.

If you have one of the larger chain craft stores.They usually have it in the baking section.

In research for DIY that I'm looking into, Walgreens Pharmacy stated they could order it in for me and I believe is was 6-8 oz(177-236 ml) for $6.50. I did tell them it was for cleaning nebulizers or making candles could work too since here they've been alerted to NOT sell it for eliquid purposes.

Um, you either asked for the wrong PG, or someone did not understand you.

The powder is not the PG we use in juice. It is an effective laxative though. Slightly different word for the P, but the same G as I remember.

Use whichever works for you...

Thanks for the info everyone. I am pretty sure my Walgreens would have to order it, the didn't stock it and the woman I spoke to at CVS must not have understood me. I asked for propylene glycol but she was probably thinking polyethylene glycol, the active ingredient in Miralax haha. Target Pharmacy had none. I will give the farm store and Michael's a call.

I think Michael's was a no go, couldn't find anything on their website, and I called and checked baking and candle-making sections. Oh well I guess I'll just have to wait til the PG i ordered gets here. I just wanted to pick some up locally so I could mix up some juice before my trip. I won't be around when my bottle ordered online gets here.

We just got some at a tractor store last week same price- best deal around for a gallon USP PG. I notice no difference from PG I bought elsewhere for much more.

I bought mine at CVS pharmacy. (16) oz for $12.80 including tax. They had to order it but it was there the next day. Went to walmart and the pharmacist was a real snot. She had a load of questions and finally told me it was antfreeze and they did not sell it and could not order it. She also told me they did not sell vegetable glycerin which I found next to the alcohol (underpaid and overworked I suppose). I have read on this forum that wally world can order it so I suppose it depends on the pharmacist on duty and what kind of mood they are in. Anyway, I went across the street to CVS and had no problems.

Looks like I'll have to keep looking into it for next time. The smaller bottle I ordered online will be here this weekend while I am at the baby shower. I guess I am stuck with the flavors I have right now for the trip tomorrow. Must just be impatient haha. I will check CVS in person for the PG and the VG right after work today and I think the farm store is over near another appointment we have downtown today. Thanks for the info everyone!

Just for your info, No pharmacy within 20 miles of me has PG. You have to find a pharmacy that compounds. Then and only if the pharmacist is willing will you be able to get it. I was told this is a state thing (FL) by many of the pharmacy that I visited. The one pharmacy that I did find that had it, looked at me like I was going to be producing black market products and would not sale it to me. I just went on amazon and got 1000ml of it for 20 bucks.

Found it in 1 or 5 gallon amount for both PG and VG at the farm supply store. Little under $30 each. Mixed up my first eliquid a few hours ago.
