Anyone have experience with organic cotton balls vs cotton pads? I can't seem to find the money spot with how much cotton. If I put to little, obviously dry hit. Too much and I get a little vapor followed by a slight burnt taste. I try just a hair less cotton and bam dry hit. Should I just order a pad or 6 of the Ken Jen do? If so from where?

Are you on about rebuilding the Aspire Bottom Vertical Coils or turning a protank coil in to a Vertical Coil?

I rebuild the kanger enclosed dual coils to a vertical coil and use Muji japanese cotton wrapped around the coil. Here is a thread I wrote on how to do it.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ed-kanger-dual-coil-single-vertical-coil.html

I'm doing the aspire ones. Ive looked at your thread s few times. But the only thing I have problems with is how mu cheaper cotton. Just wanted to see if somoene else has used cotton balls vs cotton pad to rebuild them. I only have 1 coil left otherwise it's what I rebuild. So I guess I have a few days to try and hit that spot.

I think it will be tricky with cotton wool balls because I have found that you do need to have the cotton packed quite tight unlike a normal horizontal coil where the cotton goes through the coil the cotton needs to be quite thin and not too tight through the coil.

Did you watch rip trippers You Tube video on how he re-builds the aspire coils?

Hope it helps

EDIT

Sorry forgot to mention I buy the Muji unbleached cotton from here

http://www.muji.eu/pages/online.asp?Sec=17&Sub=70&PID=4479

It is in the UK so I am not sure how shipping etc would be for the US but it is 140 pads for £1.95 in the UK plus a few pounds shipping. But I am sure you can find a US seller maybe Ebay ?

Again not in the aspire heads but in the protank 1 heads I did have some success building a vertical coil and placing itin the cup the used cotton wall balls rolled thin and packed around the coil very tightly till the whole cup is filled from top to bottom around the coil.

As I say the cotton had to be really packed in tight and with the protank 1 coils with the chimney off you have more room to pack it in where as with the aspire coils you don't have much room to work in.

I use rayon for these myself, and I highly suggest it. Here's a vid on how to completely break down a BDC, it works the same for a BVC tho: Aspire Nautilus Complete Head Rebuild - YouTube

I have used the cotton balls before with some mixed results, but when I switched over to rayon I never looked back :D

I started with the silica and moved onto cotton from there and rather enjoyed it, though I admit I've yet to try the new Japanese cotton that seems to be so popular right now. I have never tried the rayon either, might have to give it a go at some point!

The bvc coils the cotton must be on the outside of the coil, not like your traditional coil where the cotton goes inside.
