My initial post
Ok so I FINALY recieved my applewood. I have read so much about the deep apple/wood taste.

First impression. "is that throw up I taste?"
Now before I get attacked by every applewood lover let me explain.

I was expecting a deep dark red apple hint maybe a little woodsy smoked tobacco type flavor. What I tasted was this. "tastes like light sharp green apple-ish with.......puke? what is that? vape vape...stomach bile. But no it doesn't taste like puke or stomach bile. It is too clean to be that. But WHAT IS IT???"
I had my girlfriend try it. She said the same thing. Then BAM! It came to me. There was a HEARTBURN taste/feel to it. "Is this normal? Heartburn taste?" she said that is what she got from it too. I thought maybe it was because of the acidity taste from the apple. but I thought it was a deep flavor like a red apple??? I am getting more of a sharp green apple almost like the skin of an apple where it is a little more bitter.

Is this just my horrible interpretation to this flavor because of some acidy compound that reminds me of heartburn? Or was mine accidently mixed with green apple??? Plus I don't get much of a "tobacco" flavor from it but maybe that's only cause I've been vaping Vaperite organics.

Now I am HOPING someone will chime in with a similar experience with this to tell me "that goes away with steeping" or "that's just the apple skin flavor you taste" or something to tell me it is normal and will go away. I HATE TO THINK I WILL BE UNABLE TO GET THE FULL LUXURY OF THIS VAPE! I can tell it is greatly crafted and fine fine ingredients are used. But is it just me? Or is there a hint of acid reflux going on. Do I just need to steep it?

Ok so it hasn't been a week but I can't help to say..... I LOVE THIS STUFF. I don't know if "steeping" is the cause of it or the psychology changed the flavor to me or maybe my tastebuds became immune to what I described as "acid reflux" or heartburn. Whatever it was it does not matter because this is becoming my all day vape. The flavor has rounded out for me. Great TH, vapor, flavor, etc. etc.

I'm glad I gave Applewood a few days before I gave it away. My favorite vape right now!

Glad ya like it. I have not cared for any of the BWB juice I've tried. I've got a bottle of 24mg 555 that's gathering dust. I just don't like it at all.

TC

same. My Cafe Mocha is ok, it's just not enough flavor.. It's def. a clean taste though.
Ihave Virginia, Casablanca, Cherry Tobacco, and Cafe Mocha.. All of which have a very clean taste, I give Don that, but the flavor is just not there. Casablanca tastes like a chilly pepper tobacco.... All of the Juices were born 1/10/11; only the Cafe Mocha was born 2/14/11, so the Cafe Mocha might still open up.

Not sure what the big hype about BWB is..

I can't say yet as I've only tried the Applewood and Maxboro. The Maxboro tastes exactly like the applewood minus the apple. Nothing too interesting for me. But I still plan on trying his other flavors because it does taste/feel like good quality stuff. I have some Hunters Blend I have yet to try. But Applewood is definately at the top of my list right along with Vaperite's natural and organic tobaccos (although completely different) they are both top quality in my opinion.

Nothing lives up to the hype...

It's my favorite for the same reason it's someone else's least favorite you know?

If you like a lot of throat hit... a lot of sweet or flavor punch, then it will not live up to the hype...

If you find yourself getting nauseous from heavily flavored liquids or getting sores in your mouth or heartburn... If you wish you could vape more without these adverse symptoms... then BWB might be for you. It's a sort of mild, unassuming liquid that the relatively sensitive can vape all day.

Before Don made liquid, he was buying it - and he initially made it so it would suit him... and that's what we get.

I love it. I find Alien Visions, vaperite, want2vape and vapors etc to be similar in this way. No heartburn. No sores. No sickly feeling. No flavourart and no loranns... high quality base. Quality flavorings. Not too strong...

take a year or so for me to appreciate

I'm not one of those that likens e-liquid to fine wines etc... some of my vaping friends do, but I don't.

You can certainly summon the skills of wine tasting etc and apply it to tasting/vaping... but I can't buy into elitist hype about vendors and flavor and process etc...

I suppose my snobbishness rears it's head when I think more about performance of liquid and about the variety of flavors brands vendors use. A vendor like Todd at Vaperite, DOn at BWB amd Donnely at W2V use a lot of different flavor vendors... To me, that means that they really care about flavor... you know... trying to create something truly unique.

I think your tastes change pretty frequently when you vape, but I wouldn't say they graduate to "higher" levels.

I like dekang more now than I ever have... and dekang is "supposed" to be low quality etc...

My GF salts Chinese food and pizza. She likes tasty Vapor and Vapor Bomb she needs that "punch in the tastebuds" when she vapes... and when Don makes her liquid, he encloses an extra bottle of sweetener ;-)

Hey lasttango, I was wondering 2 things. 1st thing is: which liquid is closest to what you get out of the vaperite tobaccos? (if you are a big vaperite fan like I am due to a post from you lol then you know what I mean)
and 2: are any of the similar suppliers liquids less "cloggy" than vaperite? because I litterly can not vape it in a cartomizer (the ones I buy anyway, Halo Blank cartos) because it is too thick or something. man oh man that Perique is the best.

Thanks for the update! I don't know why anyone would question that steeping is some kind of voodoo - these flavors have to mix and mellow to really do them justice. I love Applewood too but to each their own, there are flavors that are loved by many that turn me off and things I like that others won't - it's a given. I find you do need to steep at least some of these juices to get the intended product, so sometimes you have to wait a little to know.
