A week or so ago, I had my first cold in 3 years. I gave up smoking and started vaping (all day every day, 18mg) a little over 2 years ago.
I eat a lot of garlic - when I don't, I get a cold if there's one going. (I have no idea how scientifically valid this garlic-based notion is, but I'd like to know, because science is a thing, and anecdotes are a different thing, but anyway...)
When I smoked, every cold would develop into non-painful but very annoying bronchitis - a heavy cough (I'll spare you the details) which lasted for 6-8 weeks.
This being my first cold after 2 years of vaping, I was interested to see how it would turn out. Answer - very light, normal cold-style dry cough during the height of the cold, nothing after - no bronchitis, nothing. I vaped throughout the cold's development (I always used to smoke through a cold as well, because, you know, what else are ya gonna do?)
Eight days after the first symptoms, it was gone. With tobacco I'd being spluttering every time I laughed for another month or two. My neighbour has that cold now (presumably the same strain/germ/whatever). She smokes. It doesn't sound pretty.
