Land of the Lost
I'm sure most of you will agree that weight gain is a common problem when you quit smoking. Since I have been vaping (no analogs since 4th of July) not only have I not gained any weight, but I have lost close to ten pounds. Now hear me out. I am not saying I have lost weight because of vaping, but I think it's kind of a side effect, so to speak. I have definitely changed my eating habits since I started vaping, in that I don't crave sweets as much and I think this is due to the juices that I am vaping. I think I am able to satifsy my sweet tooth with the desert and candy flavored juices, instead of going for and eating the real deal. I have noticed I definitely have cut back on the amount of sweets I have been eating. It is a miracle that I not only haven't smoked in over a month, but haven't put on a pound. Every other time I would quit analogs, I would gain 5-10 pounds easily. That was always one of the reasons I would put off quitting analogs. I know... how terribly vain. Now I'm thinner and healthier. Win-win! :vapor:

I have read articles about studies that show inhaling certain scents like vanilla can make you feel like you've just eaten. I think they even created "scent pens" or something that you stick in your nose and inhale.

So you're not crazy! The scents of your dessert juices is making your brain think that it just had a tasty dessert and doesn't need to eat one.

I wish that would have worked for me. I gained about 20 lbs the year I quit. Since then, I've lost it back again, but it wasn't easy. I don't crave sweets - it's the salty stuff like Cheetos, Fritos, salami, punkin seeds, hickory smoked almonds - all the nuts, really. But there have been other events in my lifestyle that resulted in my being less active than I used to be, so that could be it too. I'm glad it worked for you.:)

Its been a little over a month since I quit analogs - by vaping (naturally). Haven't gained anything - slowly losing in fact (knock on wood). Getting rid of the analogs was part of some life-changes I've been making - eating health(ier) was one I made prior to quiting - and has pretty much continued since.

For many - when quiting smoking the cold turkey method (or similar) - it seems natural to overcompensate by over eating (or eating the wrong things) - by vaping (for me) its been as if I haven't quit anything; even though I have. It's been an odd experience.

So, you're not crazy (not for that anyway).. congrats on the win/win:thumb:

+1 on the weight gain. 15lbs more since I quit real tobacco. I've lost a few since I started eating healthier this last couple of weeks, but I don't know how long I can do it. My sweet tooth is crying! Vaping doesn't suppress my appetite like cigs.

Sticking to a healthy diet is tough... :) I sure you will stick with it though.
