I know someone who drilled out the wick on an RSST and apparently the metal is some cheap gold colored alloy (not even brass). I would not have one of these in my stable personally. I would take a real (uninsulated) AC9 any day over one of those. In most cases, you get what you pay for. The AGA would one of the few exceptions to that rule for me. Great bang for the buck.

I have two RSST and three AGA-T2. The RSST is solid stainless including the post. Not a bat atty at all. I like it better than the AGA-T2 but the seal needs a little modding as it leaks the slightest bit to the connector. A silicone insulator from the AGA does the job.

i have 2 AGA-t and a little Satyr which is absolutely amazing. all of them work fine.i bought 10 meters of wire and went on a coiling frenzy till i learned it well. no drill bit no cigarette paper. its best if you train your hand to fill exactly the tension of the coil. its like everything else, you struggle a bit then bam, one day the perfect coil emerges. and there is no going back after that.

You are right mate, my apologies. It was a Cobra clone with the dodgy alloy, not the RSST. Sounds like a fairly nice atty actually although, leaking to the connector is a worry. The airhole is very small in the RSST but the AGA is small as well. Opening the AGA air hole up a little in the AGA was a game changer for me, huge improvement. It may do so for the RSST as well.

Thanx, great instructions in this clip,im gonna try the PULSE method first and if it dont work i can always pull the will and ox it.

UPDATE: I decided too try the drill bit method and the first try i got a really good coil and wick going,i used 32 g kandral wire and 7 nwraps too get 1.5 ohms, strange thing is,sometimes it reads 1.7 or even 2 ohms on my Vamo, why does it change like that?

Well here is my update: I couldn't get it working so with the advice of Brad from this forum I went to a local shop. Ecig city and they helped me get it set up and showed me what I was doing wrong. They walked me step by step on setting it up as I had numerous problems with my coil and the drilled out my air hole on it. They also let me try their personal rba's. So now I have it holding steady at 1.3 ohms and it is night and day from what I was use to with my dual coil carto. They also recommended that I knock my nic level down to 6mg as it hits like a train with 12mg got a head rush after 2 hits. I liked it so much that I bought a RSST that they just got in stock and I also picked up a k100 mech mod that they just got in. So I have my rsst on k100 and the AGA on my vamo. RSST is at .8 with 30 guage Kanthal. Now I will practice more with the basics before I start experimenting with different wick setups.

Thanx for everyones help here and the guys at ecig city. I just need to practice more on my wraps but they made sure I had the concepts down and gave me tips and walked me through how to resolve the issues I kept having with the Vamo.

Just got the RSST and it was a super tight draw. So I had it opened up and wow it made a huge difference in it.

I'm DONE with SS. This is clearly the "genesis" of the gennys.

Straight trash. Have to do all kinds of absurd prep just to have a hot spot and go back to a clearo.

What were you guys THINKING?!

for a day or two i thought that this thing was impossible to make. i mean, metal touching metal touching metal and add electricity to that. i was having hot spots of all sorts because i started learning with the Satyr ( all metal, even the tank ). but is doable and actually very easy once you learn it. this my Satyr:

I know it's easy. It's just crazy the edge that is ridden with using SS.

They are by no means perfect or a replacement for an atty you can take with you on the go. But, when you get the hang of them, a stable coil can last a couple weeks. You end up tweaking them/rebuilding for fun. They get even better. And the hit, is literally addictive. In the combustion world, there are hand pipes and then there are bongs...this thing is like switching to the latter...totally changes the way you deliver nic to your bloodstream.

Awesome! That's my local shop too! Well not really "local" but my favorite in the area (including Anaheim) and the only store I spend my time driving to these days. Great supply there. Got my RSST there as well ;) it's drilled out a bit and works like a champ.

So are you able to build it directly on the VAMO now?

I've seen a lot of videos now where the user wraps the coil around the wick, takes it to the top post, and then does a FULL wrap once around the top screw to secure it. I believe this is a faulty method that can create a hot spot. Can someone confirm?? It seems to me like you should only make one pass past the anchoring positions with the wire, and hold the wire in place that way rather than making a full loop around the contacts.

Yeah I like that shop a lot def going to be my go to place. I did it yesterday while I was there and it worked however they did a great one after mine and it was to good so I kept their wrap. One of the main issues that happen when they was setting up the VAMO was the tested the hot spot on a mech then when they put it on the vamo to test it worked fine for 3 or 4 fires then one of the coils would get brighter then the rest. So they put it back on the mech to work out the hot spot. It happened again so they did slow constant pulses on the Vamo so the vamo would not turn itself off until they could get it worked out. They where fans of the hollow wick over the capillary wick style so they had me use a tooth pick to make the wick more stable and then on the wraps wrap by turning the device instead of trying to wrap the coil own my own that way I could keep the coil tight and close with out taking pressure off the mesh they did this with the mesh inside. For me with the AGA it is easier out for now but the rsst is way easier for me to coil so I did it with it in.

I would ask some of you guys that are having a real hard time with mesh to consider the porous fc2000 wicks. You will never have a short and some of my wicks are 2 months old now and have not deteriorated at all. Just wash them, fire them as hot as you like (these wicks can go to white hot without any damage) and coil them again. They come up like brand new. The only drawback is they are brittle so you need to be careful with them. The flavor is so good that once you try them, you will never want to use ss again. I kid you not. Even Zen is a convert now, packaging them as standard with the new ZAP. If you never try them you will never know what you are missing out on . . .
