Solar panels do work on cloudy days, albeit not as good as a sunny day but they will charge your batteries on day light. It just takes longer.

IMO still not reliably. I am just saying that I would not want to rely on it for something as important as keeping away from analogs. I would have much more peace of mind having extra batteries. Cost is a factor as well and any decent portable power pack is pretty pricey.

BioLite CampStove

This may be interesting. Generates electricity, light and heat from sticks and twigs!

" BioLite CampStove Item Id: B001 Your Price: $129.00

Availability: New Orders ship in July."

Great Idea! Not available until July though and may have some bugs (camping, get it) to work out. Keep in mind; my 1100mah pass-through usually takes 2 hours to completely charge, so it would have to be tended (fire) for at least that long and also for cell phone charging. Could become a pleasant evening activity though. (Don't forget the S'Mores fixins')

There are solar cell phone chargers available as well. I have charged my eGo from a solar panel at home (wired in a 12 volt outlet), also used car "booster pack" with USB outlet.

More ideas to come, I'm sure.

Relax, Enjoy!

Of course, with anything as important as vaping bringing backups is certainly a good idea.

Someone needs to make a combo hand generator / PV for vaping emergencies. :)

Do they still make the 12 volt generators that fit against bicycle wheels? Or am I too old, thinking of these!

lol yeah I remember those. With batteries and LED technology no one bothers though.

Something like this comes to mind..

Product Card

Plug your passthru into that, vape forever and get a workout while you are doing it.

Both of these would work, but,
"The Pocket Socket charges your mobile device at the same rate it would charge in a standard 120v household electrical outlet."
That would mean 2 hours of cranking for me, I'm not sure how long the other chargers usually take to charge.

Well Fisher, I can lend you my lavatube with three fresh batteries for when you go camping. If you are coming my way on the way to camping.

You are such a great guy!! What an awesome offer, my friend, and I thank you very much for it. Would be terrified of doing some sort of irreparable damage to it, tho. :D Have a couple of options running thru my head at the moment. If the cig lighter works on the old truck beast, that solves things right there. If not ... I have something I am thinking about as an alternative vaping beast that I may purchase. Decision time looming. LOL.

If you can catch them onsale at Canadian Tire, one those 400w inverters is a good investment ... comes with lighter socket and battery clamp cords (when parked of course). I got so tired of buying car adapters for all our families gear ... now I just run a multiplug extension cord from the front to the back of the van and the kids just plug their stuff in with the AC adapters that come with the devices.

I you're a backpacker/adventurer etc. these portable solar chargers are probably a good option ... if you are a drive somewhere and setup type of camper you've got this huge capacity battery right there in your vehicle ... you might as well use it since you brought it. A solar trickle charger for the car battery is another option to keep it topped up.

I am a BIG camper too! This will be my first year out with a PV too. I have an ego-c, and an LT on the way! :D

I picked up a couple stardusts for my ego batts - to minimize leaks, and add some much needed juice capacity! Luckily I do have power at my seasonal campsite, but I do have a "powerpack" that has a 12v port so will probably try that out to charge.
