Dose anyone have experience with the solar pcc? I know innovations in solar technology have come a long way in the past couple years but that seems like a pretty small solar panel.

Don't have any experience with solar panels, but they should list some specs that indicate it's power output. That should give you a good idea.

I use one of these when Camping.

9800mah.jpg

It's a 9,800mah@5v External Battery for a Notebook that also has USB Power Output. Works Great to Charge e-Cig batteries as well as Cell Phones or a GPS.

The problem with Solar Charging is unless you get a Good One, and usually Expensive one, it is going to take a Long Time to Charge an e-Cig Battery even with 100% Sun Light.

I've got a small hydrogen fuel cell charger that I used during medical aid trips, for charging camera batteries, ipad, etc.
The cartridges it uses are very similar in size to a CO2 cartridge, and gives about 10 charges to 4AA batteries. The cartridges are refillable, and I've used it on two med aid trips so far without any issue at all. I think I paid about a hundred bucks for it

last year i took up 2 ego (1000mah) pas and a few 510's and i was fine . went for a hour drive ever sec day or so just to give them a lil charge and i did fine . Surprisingly i dident feel the need to vape as much with the fresh air. Now i own a lavatube and a few different mods so i have no worries at all . My suggestion is to pic up a mod with more then 1600mah bat power and a few spare bats and you will be fine .. just bring a few extra attys and cartos . cleaning dirt and sand out of them is not something u want to do up in the woods

I got a little worried about my camping situation after reading this thread again this afternoon so i wipped this up in about 5 min.

Fortunately I'm a electronics pack rat. i always have been since i was a kid.
Now all I need to do is figure out how to charge my mod batteries with it. not to say it would be all that bad just vaping my egos while i was camping.

Are those solar cells? Hummm.... New business venture? Producing folding solar chargers for campers! Small and light weight!

Guess it depends where your camping. If it's in a park there are some site that have electrical hook-ups. Although I never get those, last summer I asked a neighbour that did if I could plug in my charger and he was all too happy to oblige. On my canoe trip last summer I was luck enough to have ten fully charged 18650's with me. Plenty for the six days of backwoods.

I'm a camper too but with autonomy, as I have stationnary batteries in my Eurovan camper and evena 220V converter so not a problem for charging....

But a simple advice: take with you also a mini or even a disposable for emergencies (I always have one in my camper). YOu never know what could happen.
I remember one time in south Portugal, I was on the beach vaping and I put the Ego in my short....Later my daughter calls me from the sea so I went too, we start to play a little and I totally forgot what was in my pocket.
Needles to say that my battery was dead.... SO you'll be more than happy to even have an emergency tool :)

I spent a lot of time in the woods during my Boy Scout days and loved it. Nowadays, any camping for me would involve my 5500 watt generator set outside the camp with a 12 gauge extension cord run into camp. They are loud, but effective! I'm good with a Coleman camp stove and lantern, but you can't beat electricity for some things.

I like the solar charger idea. I also agree that charging an eGo battery here and there is not going to run down a good car battery. If it does, you needed a new one anyway.

An eGo charger draws 420ma (1/2 amp) at 5 volts from a USB source. A typical 4 cylinder starter draws from 130 to 150 amps from the battery when starting the engine (150,000ma). A V8 starter can draw 225 amps.

...

On a sour note, just heard not only is there a fire ban here for the long weekend but there is also no alcohol allowed in any Provincial or National park for the duration of the long weekend...:grr:

...

Say What?

Isn't that the Reason you go Camping? To sit around the Fire Drinking with your Feet Up after a Long Day of Enjoying the Great Outdoors?

I used one of these last summer on a 4 day canoe trip in Algonquin it was on sale for $25. Normally I use it with my cell phone so if I am out geocaching with the kids I don't have to worry about battery life.

Energizer® XP4000 Portable Charger for Digital Cameras, Camcorders & More!

Brought a fully charged darwin and 4 eGo batteries and made it with no problems with lots to spare. Needed to be small enough to carry in my back with the rest of my gear.

I also picked up an eGo PCC on sale from China recently for camping.

Believe it No fire, No Booze for all of Alberta!!!:(

No Fire & No Booze = No Camping in my book.

The Fire thing I can understand in Summer in certain areas. I've been places where a Back Country Fire Permit was required. And they may not issue you when when there is a Risk of Wildfire, ie: High Winds and or Extremely Dry Conditions.

But No Booze?

Same in manitoba! Eviction and possible huge fine if caught. Possible ban from all provincial parks if the parkie wants to. Luckily my seasonal site is at a privately owned park! :) same rules don't apply! They may have a fire ban tho... Been pretty dry here!

I went camping last weekend with my boys and used a 4 AA puck style Altoids PV. I can stretch to three days use on a single charge and had four spare AA batteries for a theoretical six days of worry free vaping.

the Altiods PV may feel a bit getto if I'm attending a symphony performance, but fits right in when I'm skipping rocks across the lake.
