Camping and vaping

As the summer season approaches, so does camping time! Wasn't vaping last summer so this wasn't an issue then but, with the gear I currently use, this is going to be a real problem (other than having to idle the truck for a couple of hours a day just to charge up some Ego batts which isn't going to happen for several reasons). So ... for all you campers out there ... what do YOU do?

I didn't know solar chargers existed, like zer0ith mentioned, but it would be a better choice for sure! In my city, leaving your car on idle for more than 3 minutes can lead to an expensive fine.

Otherwise, think of the all the pollution you'd make for such a small device!

Speaking of the solar charger....is there any user feedback?

I mentioned this to my other and he says have no fear I have the power pack. But seriously... solar charger would be lighter to carry around.

Found an external battery charger with usb capability on the Staples site ... says it's 1800 mah ... does that mean that I would get one charge each out of my 1000 mah and 650 mah batteries and then it is drained? Sorry if this sounds obvious ... electronics was never my strong suit.

A decent car battery should have about 60Amp-hour capacity ... thats 60,000mah. You don't need to idle your vehicle to charge an ego battery ... or 10.

Yeah I have thought about camping and vaping a few times since I started. I usually go for two weeks every summer so it should be interesting to see if I can keep up with charging.

We usually bring a little Honda EU2000i that we run for about 3 or 4 hours every couple of days to charge up our two-way radios, flashlights, etc. It runs pretty quiet and a tank of gas will last us the whole trip.

As an alternative some kind of solar panel + gel cell battery solution would be nice. That way you can keep a big battery constantly charging (with a charge controller/regulator of course) so you can recharge your PV batteries anytime day or night.

Charging eGo's should adapt easily to this sort of setup as they all charge by way of 5V DC.

For the bigger PV's that use IMR's, I do see that some trustfire chargers have dual AC and 12V DC barrel type inputs. With the rite adapters you should be able to charge your IMR's with solar without having to invert to AC.

I had to camp last weekend for Carolina Rebellion. Two nights only though so wasnt that bad. I had one kgo battery and two 18650 batteries for my Provari. Charged them all before i left. Had more than enough battery life till i got back home. I used the Provari around my campsite and took my cheaper lighter Kgo into the festival. I did bring my usb kgo charger in case i needed it.

For myself, I will only be camping this summer for 3 days or less. My solution will be to purchase more batteries and have them all charged prior to leaving. I like the idea of solar charging but would not want to rely on the sun in case it does not shine. Too risky imo.

Solar panels do work on cloudy days, albeit not as good as a sunny day but they will charge your batteries on day light. It just takes longer.
