Can a bad battery cause vapor to burn your tongue and throat?

I just got an 1100 mah ego-q embossed passthrough battery from healthcabin

Embossed eGo Q 1100mAh Passthrough (USB Battery) [B-A7 eGo Q 1100 PT] - $16.50 : Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail

The batteries I had used previously were 650 mah ego-c upgrade batteries.

When I got it home I used a new long wick stardust on it. I also used a new bottle of butter rum eliquid from vixen vapors.

The vaping was awful. It stung my tongue, my lips and my throat. I thought it was the eliquid, since it is known to have a real strong hit. So I cleaned and dry burned it and used the old vanilla eliquid I had been using. It was awful too. I tried a different ce4. It was a short wick and would not vape at all on it. My only other ce4 was also a short wick and it would not vape at all either. I also tried an old tank atomizer. Would not vape at all. The only thing that worked was the long wick ce4. I cleaned the long wick again an vaped it with my ego-c upgrade battery. This time I got a good vape from the long wick. I put it back on the ego-q battery and got the burning again. When I put the uncleaned long wick battery on the ego-c upgrade battery it retained the burning taste. I cleaned again and put it back on the ego-c upgrade. It was fine again.

I think I have isolated the problem to the battery. Is it possible it is leaking? Maybe it is burning me because I am getting little shocks or something? Or is it the high voltage on this unregulated battery relative to the regulated voltage on an upgrade battery that is messing things up? This new battery is not regulated. You can not adjust the voltage at all. A newly charged ego-q does use a 4.2 voltage. I do notice the flavor becomes more mild after I vape it a long time. Can someone help? I would like to return it, but I think I can only trade if it is defective and I am not sure it is.

Sounds like you tightened it down to tight and crushed the center contact down.
That could be causing a short to the new ce4 and drawing way to much current from the battery.
The other ce4's will not vape because their center pin is not able to reach the battery center contact now.
Attempt to raise the battery pin with a small flat screwdriver or paper clip and try an old ce4 on it.
Check the new ce4 carefully.

Looking at your link I noticed the battery spec: 'Output Voltage:3.0-4.2v', so an unregulated output voltage. 650 mah ego-c upgrade batteries may well be regulated to 3.4 or so volts, meaning they will give you 3.4 v all through the discharge cycle. If this is true it means that with a freshly charged ego-q battery, you are getting 4.2 volts as opposed to the 3.4'ish volts on the eGo batts. That could very well be why your Stardusts are tasting burned. They do not handle higher voltages well.

I agree with crxess on the other issue.

This advise seemed to solve the problem. Thanks everybody!:vapor:
