Ah, if I like the e-cig on a cord, I'll definetly have to invest in a Kensington then! I am a world-class clutz. I don't know how many atomizers I've busted because I dropped my e-cig 5 times in a row HA HA (but it seriously ticks me off! Brand new atomizer and I dropped it AGAIN--oh oh it's not working at all. I need a wrist cord or something)

Warp, I agree with your post and also disagree. Yes, the kensington with 1500mA will definitely give you a lot of vapor and throat hit. However, I found that 5volts with 1000+mA was far more than my throat wanted or needed.

The $20 one I suggested is 5 volts at 600mA and will power a pass-through just fine for the average 3.7 volt user (have personally tested this on both an aftermarket passthrough and a home-made version) The 1000mA one you suggested would work very well, but let's also keep in mind that some people are concerned with form factor, as well.

So, the real question for whatagem is if she is looking to vape at higher voltages (which the kensington will definitely provide) or if she is just looking for an external power supply that will allow her to vape at the standard 3.7 volts without using the factory e-cig batteries.

Dead on. I have a Lenmar that at .7A powers my PS pt to about the same level as if it were running a 3.7v battery. My Kensington, on the other hand, takes the performance of the pt up a few notches. Both powerpacks have their uses, it just depends on what it is you're looking for.

I bought a Kensington K38021/k33396 battery pack yesterday to use on vacation with my M401 passthrough. I figured that it would be perfect for me chain smoking sitting in front of a slot machine. :D I charged it and started testing last night to see how long that it lasts. I think that it might be too much power. The usb was giving me really heavy hits - so heavy that I had to cut back on puffs. I think that it also might have burnt out an ATZ and a usb passthrough, but it's hard to know since they can be irratic at times even with a simple USB to wall plug converter that I normally use. After 4 hours the Kensington had no lights - which means empty, but when I started to recharge this morning it had 4 of 5 lights - almost full. Weird. I know diddly squat about electronics. Is the Kensington maybe TOO powerful for m401?

lhntx, while I have no first-hand experience to speak on, I wouldn't think the Kensington is too powerful for your M401. There are other veteran vapers currently using their 401 attys on 6 volt battery mods. But you have now graduated to "high voltage" vaping since the Kensington is giving you 5volts at up to 1.5amperes of current versus the 3.7 volts that your standard battery gives you. :) As for the battery life, the Kensington should last you faaaaaar longer than 4 hours. There might be something wrong with your led indicators. :(

I have 4 different ones :p

Kensington - Battery Pack with Charger for Apple® iPod® and iPhone - 33396

Just Mobile Gum Pro USB MP3 iPod GPS PDA External Battery - 4400mAh

Portable Power-High Luminance LED Torch

And:

Duracell DR7000LI Instant Power Charger for USB Devices at TigerDirect.com

All work perfect except the last one. It will not work with a USB pass through but will charge your batteries. I prefer the luminance-led-torch for size and feel, but the Just Mobile brand can not be beat for length of use. It beats the Kensington almost 2-1 in duration. But the Kesington is lighter, it all depends on what you are looking for.
Hope this helps.

these are the new powerpacks from energizer coming out soon. check it out, im sure everyone can find a suitable one to use with any PV out there!

as soon as i find them im getting one!
It is only rated at 500ma, NO THANKS. You need 1000ma or more to directly power an atomizer.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Battery Cell: Lithium Polymer
Power Capacity: 2000 mAh @ 5V
Rated Input: DC 5V, Max 500 mA
Rated Output: DC 5V, Max 500 mA
Charge Time: 4 Hrs
Weight: 2.5 oz / 71g
Dimensions: 3.3 (L) x 2.3 (W) x 0.5 (H) inches
8.4 (L) x 5.8 (W) x 1.3 (H) cm

The Kensington has three times the output current for around the same price if you shop around.

Framitz, I would respectfully disagree (with some caveats). While I'm not personally convinced that it will power all pass-throughs due to it's 500mA current flow, no battery pack "must be" 1000mA of current to power a pass-through.

With that said, the Kensington is undoubtedly an excellent external battery pack to use and is worth the money (regardless of what other battery pack you might be able to find for cheaper). But, as I tried to state earlier, users who are unfamiliar with voltages and amperages should understand that the power of the Kensington Portable Power Pack will bring them up to the level of "high voltage" vaping, which is not necessarily everyone's intent when in search of an external power source.

I'm not sure, TnA - I think a lot depends on if you have a battery passthrough or straight wire. I built a straight wire passthrough and it wouldn't fire on a .5a wallwart, but runs like a champ on the computer or on an adjustable power supply that I grafted a female usb cable to.

Now, I'm vaping away at 4.5v and happy as a clam!

Is it possible that the xtra voltage from the Kensington is also burning out my atomizers? I'm having to really limit my puffs w/ the Kensington because the atz get much hotter than the usb plugged into a wall socket converter and the battery did. I've had a couple of atz that have quit working really fast (like as in one day), but I just can't be sure if it is related because I've been using both the Knsgton and the usb to wall plug.
