I am finding that certain juice flavors are absolutely disgusting to me. I only vape tobacco menthol flavors and I have tried boba's bounty and gorilla juice from AVE.

I have tried about 10-12 vendors and have found a very unpleasant common flavor in several juices. There is a musty flavor that will not dissipate in an atty. It is NASTY. It is present in BlueMist Robacco, Boba's Bounty, Gorilla juice, and in a couple fire cured flavors and in Vermillion River juice.

I have not been able to pin down the problem, but I'm sick of wasting money on juice that I find unusable.

I was wondering if any DIY'ers might be able to help me figure out what the common ingredient or flavoring might be in the above juices.

I love PureSmoker Tonic, Kick Bass and BWB juices for reference.

The problem juices all have the same flavor component to my palate. Any idea what it might be?

Thanks.

I never noticed a musty flavor in any juice that I have tried, but I have gotten a lot of commercial juice with a slightly metallic or chemical taste- I think it's the flavor of the nicotine coming through. I hate throwing juice away, so I experimented a bit and found that I can make almost all of it usable by adding 1% FA cotton candy. I am not sure why it works, and I can't guarantee it will work for everyone but it might be worth a try - I also add 1% cotton candy to all the juice I make and I never notice that off taste in any of it.

FA cotton candy is ethyl maltol, and it's true -- adding em to a juice smooths it out and improves almost any of them. 1% is about right. Don't let then name fool you, in that concentration it won't make the juice taste like cotton candy.

I am in the same boat, I know exactly what you are talking about and I can't stand that "musty" flavor. We must have similar "taste receptors". I have found it in DK Tobacco flavoring from Flavor Apprentice, American eliquid Tobacco and Halo Freedom(less but still there).

I also love the BWB flavors that I have tried. Although my preference runs to 80+% PG.

I am also starting to not want to keep buying flavors that are unusable to me.

I am going to try the PureSmoker Tonic, Kick Bass juices based on your experiences. I will post back if I come across any other Tobacco flavors without this "mustyness". It would be great hear if you find any others as well. There are too many out there to just keep buying them all to try out.

Also, For those that think this may be the Tobacco Absolute, is anyone familiar with "Flavor Apprentice Tobacco Extract"? From OneStopDIYShop: "Flavor Apprentice states, this is a variation of Tobacco Absolute. It is an alcohol extraction process that uses a different method than the standard Tobacco Absolute. It is thick and viscous, but not quite as thick as the original, but has more of a "cigarette" type flavor and less of the "grass" note."

Doc,

I believe that would be TA, tobacco absolute. In the Bluemist liquids anyway. I happen to like it but my wife hates the smell of it. I vape Robacco and Caramel Tobacco. Not as noticeable in their cafe caramel

Yeah, switched, I think it's the TA, also. But, I know that Puresmoker has TA in it. Maybe it's just a proportion issue. I was thinking it might be a Flavour Art/ PA kind of issue. Oh well, I just placed a massive order for Tonic form Puresmoker, so I'll try to stop experimenting for a while.
