Well I've been vaping for years now, have quite an assortment of gear and knowledge and I figure I really should be mixing my own juice to save money. The problem with it is there are so many options for flavors and recipes from different companies etc... I just don't really have the time these days to dig through it all. So I was hoping some of you nice folks lurking this board might help me out with some recipe recommendations based on what I like.

My favorite juices at the moment are derail and gold rush from casey jones mainline reserve, derail is a strawberry custard and gold rush is a butterscotch custard. Very nice creamy juices, I tend to like the desserty/vanilla flavors a lot and don't usually go for straight fruits or anything chocolate.

TLDR: I'm looking for recipes that could compare in taste to the following juices.

Favorite juices of I've ever tried:
-Derail (CJMR)
-Gold Rush (CJMR)
-Gold (Nitelitevapor)
-Bounty Hunter (Nitelitevapor)
-Bobas Bounty (Alien Visions)
-Nilla Gorilla (ITCVapes)
-Custards Last Stand (Nicoticket)

There's still a lot of premix stuff I haven't tried that I'm sure I'd love too like the five pawns or highbrow, but I vape too damn much to buy the spendy stuff ;)

I've not tried any of the juice's in your list but if you like custards you might want to try

15% Capella Vanilla custard,
6% TFA Dulche DE Leche
2% TFA French Vanilla Cream

Not my recipe so I can't take credit for it but to me it is delicious.

Nutty Coconut Bar This one is one of mine and is another one that I make over and over again. All flavorings are from TFA except the vanilla custard. It is Capellas

8% Coconut Candy
5% Toasted Almond
3% English Toffee
3% Milk Chocolate
3% Vanilla custard
5% Bavarian Cream
Sweetener-1 drop per each 3ml

I was under the impression that there were quite a number of established recipes as it is, so I figured someone might be able to recommend one or two that I could try out based on the flavors that I like. What are the complex and technical workings of following a juice recipe that would be so easy to blunder?
I was speaking from experience but I can do some more research for you if needed. Here is -Bobas Bounty
I got it, can't tell the difference. I have a real bottle here, everyone I let smell it says they can't tell the difference. The flavor is dead on. It may not be exactly what he uses but I can't tell the diff.

I made a 5 mill bottle.

24mg nic
100 vg
6 drops of black and mild flavor
2 drops of cotton candy
2 drops of coconut

For Custards, use one of these three brands: FA, Cap, or FLV. All are top notch. I try to stay away from those chemicals, so I don't vape custards (sadly) very much.

Also look into TFA's Bavarian Cream (DX is good too), Graham Cracker, sweet cream and Vanilla Swirl. FA's Meringue and FA's Fresh Cream are both musts to have in your arsenal for creamy, milky bases. FA's cookie is also a must have for cookie type flavors. FW's Yellowcake and Hazelnuts are both good (most FW stuff is junk, though). So these along with a couple of good custards can get you started with dessert type vapes.

With these bases you can add fruits and what not. Lemon and strawberry both work well. You will get a million opinions, though, on who has the best Strawberry. Same thing with all the fruits, really.

TFA's stuff is more dilute. Not uncommon to see 20% flavoring. They are a good brand all around, but require more flavoring (which is fine because they are cheaper than most of the others).

Cappella, FA, FLV's stuff is all concentrated. You might see 10%, but I usually end up with recipes in the 5-8% total flavor range. Don't know much about INW or Hangsen, so can't comment (though INW supposedly has the best tobaccos).

There are many tasty recipes on here but what taste good to me may not taste good to you so. It's not a bad way to start but I would start with simple basic recipes and work up to the more complex recipes.

Start with a recipe that has 2 - 3 flavors at first and stay away from the recipes that may have 7 or more flavorings in them until you've got some mileage under your belt.

I generally recommend doing one flavor recipes because not all flavors are the same. For instance cherry could be a freshly picked off the tree cherry taste or a Halls cough drop taste or a candy sweet over the top taste etc... You need to know the taste of each flavor to gauge what to expect when you combine flavors. You don't want a cherry pie alamoad juice to taste like halls cough drops with a corn chip crust with vanilla custard on top. You want it to taste like fresh cherries in a nice doughie crisp crust with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top if you get my drift:)

Not my recipe so I can't take credit for it but to me it is delicious.

One of my flavor orders came today and I mixed 5ml of this up at 70vg/30pg zero nic, does it need to breathe for awhile before vaping? It smells very nice. When my other order arrives I'm gonna try that strawberry one that sketchness posted too, woohoo!

Use care buying your nic. Not everyone sells pure or fresh nic. A good nicotine base should be odorless and dead clear. A straw color or ashtray smell means the nic is either insufficiently refined or old. Neither is good.

Also keep it in the freezer. Nic breaks down with light or heat.

I was thinking of ordering that 1 liter of 250mg from RTSvape, I just don't like that it comes in plastic bottles, but if I'm keeping it in the freezer it will pretty much be good forever won't it? PG or VG as a base make any difference? I assume PG would be better for longevity and blend with mixes a little easier, and I have no PG sensitivity so I have no reason to avoid it.

12% cap vanilla custard v1
3% cap sweet strawberry
2% tfa vanilla swirl
2% cap sweet cream

I like this one. Often removing strawberry and adding Hansen vanilla instead. A drop per 10ml of ap sometimes. This base is infinitely adjustable.

Would you mind telling me, what is the "AP" you are referring to here?

Welcome to the crazy world of DIY! You're in for the ride of your life; some rides will be good and some will make you sick. lol Let me give you one really good single flavor to start with that should satisfy your vanilla dessert type vape while you're playing mad scientist. Go to DIY Flavorshack and order Dawn's "Mr. Good Stuff" flavoring. It's really good as a stand alone and one you can use to build upon if you want. I wish this flavor had been out there when I started. Since you like Boba's, you probably like stout flavors and if so, start out with 15% flavor. I like this one mixed at 60% VG but choose your own preference. I also like her Angel Food Cake flavor mixed at 15%. Make sure to transfer your nic to glass containers and store in the freezer. I use the small canning jars 1/2 pint size. Make sure to throw in a bottle of Dawn's Holy Vanilla too----hands down the best standard vanilla out there IMO.

AP= acetyl pyrazine

It is an additive that gives a nutty bread crust type flavor at low percentages. Like a drop per 20mls or so. It is very strong and easy to over do it.

Just had to come back and say that both variations of the recipe you posted are really good, I get a cake like flavor along with the custard and strawberry. Thanks for sharing! I have 50mls of each now.

For easy mixing you can try a flavor from Mt. Baker Vapor and just mix it with whatever base you want to use. They are easy because they already have mixed several flavors into one and it's ready to use. The only problem with them is that you may need to use a higher percentage on some of their flavors. One that I like is their Vanilla Butternut but it requires 35% flavoring but it's easy. And since you mentioned butterscotch, I love the below recipe also and you can tweek it to your liking if you prefer it slightly different:

6% TFA Caramel Original
3% FA butterscotch
1.5% FA Hazelnut
1% TFA Marshmallow

I definitely recommend you start making your own. It's really not as hard or scary as you think, and it's so much cheaper. I Vape a lot and I could never afford to buy all premade juices, plus I just like mine better anyways.

My only info I could give you is start percentages small because it is easier to add flavor than it is to take away. Also here are some great reads for you to begin with. Dannyv45's blogs: dannyv45's blog | E-Cigarette Forum and Hoosier blogs: Hoosier | E-Cigarette Forum you need to click on his blog tab because the direct link does not work yet for Hoosier.
