Can E-Cigarettes be more dangerous than normal ones for pregnant women?

Exactly. But I was meaning to involve the doctor in NRT options and knowing what nicotine does versus smoking, etc., which it appears she has done already.

I just wouldn't trust my developing baby to some unknown liquid from China, especially with all that has come from there recently. I've read a lot of those manufacturing sites, where the liquid ingredient includes "etc" on the list. Eeeek!

Thats what I think too. They put lead in toys, melamine (sp?) in baby formula, and ??? in liquid. For myself, I don't care my developing was over years ago. I wouldn't even trust the FDA, anyone remember thalydimide (sp?)? My wife was on a strict Whole Foods, organic, no fish diet. Over cautious, but God forbid anything happens you'll blame yourself into madness.

I am a child of the 60s. My mum smoked during pregnancy, as did the mums of a lot of my childhood friends. One thing I have noticed recently is that even though smoking is now seen as the most horrible, terrible, awful thing you can do whilst carrying a child, the number of children with asthma, etc has increased dramatically! I guess there is something far more awful out there that no-one is telling us about.

I would say don't worry - just do what feels best for you.

The same here, but I do have a remark. I believe cigarettes that were smoked by our parents (and grandparents, my grandfather lived to 98, started smoking - allegedly - in the age of 11, and he only smoked filter cigs after the age of 70 or so) were quite different to the stuff that is sold as "tobacco" cigarette today. I mean without all the additives to make them more potent, addictive, nicer to inhale... Without many of the dangerous chemicals.

Having said that, I still believe avoiding e-liquid ion pregnancy is better for the child, even if the mother smokes analogs.

I was thinking that too, anything has got to be better for a baby than smoking.
We should remember that much of the damage caused to our bodies by smoking ir really a mechanical thing - particles of the smoke, especially tar, disturbing and damaging surfaces they touch. Unborn baby sort of only receives nicotine and a bit thicker blood (platelets or what is it caused by CO2) from that all. I would not risk the baby receiving a really dangerous chemical(s) distributed by the blood and taken from a tainted e-juice, and there is no way of making sure your particular batch is good and pure.

If it were me that was pregnant I wouldn't start smoking to quit vaping. I would vape pure glycerine and/or propylene glycol or as Katink suggested the tested and approved as safer by Dr Laugesen, Ruyan eliquid.

Nicotine changes brain chemistry of the baby, it will be born an addict.

Smoke leads to low birth weights among other serious differences with 'normal' healthy babies.

There are proven health problems with smoke from tobacco. Nothing has been found with pg, glycerine or Ruyan eliquid.

There is always a risk but I'd be 99% sure that is healthier than smoking.

I did better today, smoking wise...only 4 ciggies so far(I admit I did smoke 3 herbal ones too tho at work). But the day isn't over yet.I feel like going to bed although I know I wont be able to sleep just cause I wanna avoid the temptation of smoking.Anyway, tomorrow I'll get my totally wicked platinum ciggie with the 30 ml bottle of no nicotine liquid and hopefully that'll make me quit smoking analogs(I've seen this term here for the first time in my life :p).On monday I've got my 2nd scan scheduled aswell...hopefully the white dot has a heart beat! Its very weird, this is all new to me and i simply forget about actually being pregnant since i dont have any symptoms yet.
Thanks again to all those who took the time to help me out with my problem!

Thank you all...believe it or not,it matters a lot to me...i just can't believe it.I made my hubby call the hospital again and ask for another scan cuz i just dont believe what they said. The embryo was there 2 weeks ago...how can it just be absorbed? She only looked for 1 min before telling me it was bad news. Why???????Why me?What the hell have i done to lose the baby?I dunno...im not convinced...i had no bleeding,no pain whatsoever...its true that the day i found out i was preggy i finished my 2 weeks course of antibiotics for a bad urine infection...could that be the reason?they say its not my fault, these things happen for no reason...well i need a reason in order to accept it.Now im just waiting to phisically eliminate everything that was inside me...otherwise they'll have to scrape it off...this is not happening to me.This morning i was pregnant...now i have an empty voum inside...unfreakinbelievable.

my wife had the same thing on our third pregnancy so I know it's not a nice experience so sympathies go out to you and don't let it put you off trying again . Mother Nature has strange ways to tell you something is wrong.

My wife and I last year ( our 4th pregnancy ) had to abort a 11 week foetus on medical grounds because it had ancephaly. a very rare disorder which prevents the growth of the top of the skull and complete brain. The baby could have been born but would have died very quickly no questions about that, a heart wrenching decision that we continually question.

But Our 5th pregnancy was succesful and last year we had a little girl , number 3 child ;)
It wasnt an easy ride , My wife was continually monitored, we had to have tests for downs because the 12 week scan showed excess fluid behind the neck. We had to travel to St. Thomas hospital a few times for specialist heart abnormality tests, and our local hospital became our second home for 9 months.

I look at it without our past problems we wouldn't have Our little Molly Mae.

So for all that you are going through at this time your not alone. It does help to talk about it in time.
I hope i havent said anything to upset you but from our experiences you never know what's around the corner. All these things i look at as natures way of telling us that something is wrong.

Best wishes

I'm with Kate that someone more qualified might be able to help more than us. With that said, I doubt it was anti-biotics (though I'm not a doctor).

It's not your fault at all. My understanding is that when things like that happen it's often because it wasn't a viable pregnancy, your body and nature is very good at what it does and if there is something wrong most likely it'll take care of it early. The statistics show that this kind of thing happens very often, but with our modern medicine and regular doctors visits (which many don't do regularly) we know we are pregnant so much earlier in the process, before even nature knows if it's a viable pregnancy.

I could be completely full of crap but something happening this early has got to be better than having to chose to abort for medical reasons later.

You will get through this with the help of your partner who is more than likely as confused and hurt as you are (even if he isn't showing it). Lean on each other and try again when you feel up to it is my advice.
