Can flavoring evaporate?

I ask this cause I have been seeing that some of my bottles are nearly completly empty when I know I have not used that much. There is no signs of them spilling and I keep them in a cool dry place.

One flavor I know I didn't use all because I didn't like and put it seperate from the others. I was doing some cleaning out and noticed it was almost empty except for a few drops. They are only a couple of months old.

Are you leaving the caps off? A lot of flavorings are alcohol based so if you leave your caps off that might explain the evaporation.

I have never seen flavoring in PG evaporate. Alcohol flavoring may evaporate but not sure if it would loose it's potency. In either case I would not recommend leaving flavorings uncapped unless intentionally airing out a mix.

Because flavorings are volatile, they can evaporate. They don't go bad over time, but they do evaporate and lose potency. If the caps are secured and the bottles are located in a dark, cool area, evaporation shouldn't occur that quickly.

Do you live alone? If not, someone could be messing with you, or you're mixing while asleep.

i have seen it happen but it actually only happens to certain flavors. Cola is one of them. and i have also seen them lose potency as well. like some of my tobaccos.

i have ordered flavorings from companies and i receive them with about a quarter to 2 quarters of a ml. missing from the sealed bottle. Its not the vendors fault because obviously they have tamper proof seals which means noone is getting into them. i have had some flavors come to my mailbox with more than a ml missing. it just happens.

Thank you for posting this questions. I have not noticed my flavorings evaporating but I bet I will go look at the now. I can understand the ones with alcohol maybe. Good luck to you in your mixing. It is a lot of fun and saves lots too. Happy mixing.

I keep the caps on...they are all Mt Baker Vapor flavorings. I know no one is messing with them and Im def not mixing in my sleep LOL. I just going to try to keep it simple and not order so many flavors as much any more. I kinda went crazy when I first started DIY.
