Actually, I'm still smoking regular cigarettes and not using the patches - at least not until my Mt Baker 0 nic juice gets here, and I can refill a cartomizer. It was supposedly shipped on 1/27/14, but the last tracking info says it's still in BELLINGHAM, WA. But I know the weather is playing a big part in shipping delays, especially here in the south, so I'm trying to be patient. (Truckers haul mail, so I know what they're going through.)
I only have 16 patches that I brought home from the hospital with me. If my plan works, I'll have to buy more patches or get some juice with nicotine in it.
See, when I was in the hospital those 5 days, the nurses put a patch on me every day. I never even thought about a cigarette. So I'm thinking 0 nic e-cig and patch might work.
Like I said in previous post I'm thinking it's going to be cheaper to get nic through e-liquid/juice than patches. It's been about 5 years since I tried quitting with the patch but remember it as was about 1.5 - 2 times as expensive as my cigaret habit back then...maybe it's gotten cheaper since then not sure?
Also since then the FDA has approved nicotine for long term usage. Back then it was the step 1, 2, 3 nic levels and you were supposed to be off of it completely. Since then they have basically reversed their mind sent on nicotine. Basically no long term effects and similar to caffeine usage. Think I said this in this thread or another thread that me and you have been on but my biggest hurdle with the patch was going from step 1 to step 2. I think they need a step 1.5 or something in the middle there. There was just too much of a jump between step 1 and step 2 and I completely lost it when moving it to step 2.
I've found with vaping that I can moderate that nicotine usage. i.e. I can use a high 18-24 type liquid in the morning and then use a 4-8 mg type liquid in the evening. On average I've gone from 32mg down to 18 mg with 3-4 ml per day of usage. Originally my goals was to get to 0 mg / ml and then quit entirely but in all honesty I kind of like the flavors. I also always enjoyed smoking and this allows me the hand/mouth fixation as well as the visual blow it out of your mouth type scenario.
I was also kind of a scardy cat earlier on and it took a while for me to become comfortable with the safety aspect of vaping. I was woried about addiction of nicotine and PG/VG...if you spend a bit of time researching that you can pretty much narrow out the pg, vg, nicotine aspect. It's the FDA approved flavors for consumption but not approved for inhalation that I think are the main question at this point. I guess the way I look at is I'm getting maybe 5 chemicals as opposed to 4,000 chemicals. It may not be 100% safe but it's got to be safer than using a cig...I don't know just the way I look at it. That's not a scientific argument by any means but from a logical mindset that seems to make sense.
The other big hurdle I had to overcome was the mindset of nicotine addiction. As said FDA has now approved it for indefinite usage. So I'm no longer on the goal of 0 mg/ml. I'd like to get to 4mg/ml but that's just a personal goal. Health wise I see no medical reason for going lower than that. It's been shown to lower alheismers symptoms etc. You also get it in tomatoes, peppers, etc. So if your a vegatarion you're probably getting a fair amount of nicotine anway

Not on par with smoking but you still get nicotine by just eating vegtables.
