you guys shouldnt be using tap water, as that can calcify. use distilled water instead. it's cheap, and wont contribute to your atty destruction.

i have 2 that i got when i first started back in june/july. i have been 5v vaping them since august. i give them rubbing alcohol baths for a day or two and then dry them for another day or two and then prime with PG the night before i use them.

i dont get how people can wreck theirs in a couple weeks. mine are very tough. i probably get them too hot, i have been known to fiend the prodigy a bit between multiplayer matches in MW2. you can get that thing pretty hot in 1 minute of chain vaping.

i wouldnt use anything that has sugar in it, they can hurt your coil. check the mouthwash thing, i dont know if they have sugar in some form. soda does, so i avoid that. i might try the coffee maker trick, but was thinking of getting one of those really nice jewelry cleaners and filling the tub with alcohol/distilled water. there was a thread about using them that brought many a "dead" one back to life.

No problem, I haven't had a need to clean my 510 atty's yet anyway. You in the Midwest are getting hit hard with both snow and cold. I lived in MN for a long time, now in CA and don't miss Winter at all.

BTW, Elendil, with your experience what would you suggest for my first MOD for 510 Atty's? I guess rechargeable battery availability and reliability is my most important criteria then of course small, well built, good looking and possibly 5V.

I used to clean my atties to, every known way i tried. My 510 seemed to be a little different then some other and died in a different way. They seem to have an inner wick that with enough soaking will unravel and burn up or just fall out. It just seemed a matter of time and many were dying within weeks but many were not really dead just didn't work. I quit cleaning in any kind of soaking way and now because I usually drip have found another way.

I keep PGA in a 3ml dripper and when ones seems cloged i drip one drop and vape it. Sometimes it takes two drops but I can tell that it does indeed unclog the hardend juice inside because the draw gets much easier. Even if the atty is dry it will hit and vape out the old juice. The only time I may still soak one at all is putting one in storage, I soak it for ten minutes in PGA and then put it in a ziplock baggie.

After starting this I have only lost one atty (knock on wood) and I keep at least three atties with me at all times on boxmods one of which is a Janty 510 replacement from june or july. The others are a 401,306 and a 4081 I keep at home, also at least as old as the Janty. It may not be the cleaning that killed them all but I did find fibers in the soaking liquids and though they still may work they just don't produce any vapor.

I am really, really liking my Janty eGo. With 2 batts I am good for 15-18 hours without a problem and I am a heavy user. It is small and sleek looking. Janty really has done a great job with this. Anyone who likes a 510 and doesn't want to go with a larger, heavier "mod" would do well to look at the eGO.

I have not owned a 5V unit. I have a Chuck on order (with a 510 of course), so I will be getting into the 6v scene.........I am hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't like the Chuck as well. I hear very good things about the Prodigy v2 from Puresomker as well for a true 5v device.........

prodigy v2...accept no substitutes. lifetime warranty, mechanical switches, easy to find and cheap rcr123a 750mah batteries. doesnt look like a pipe bomb or a drug paraphernailia. nice, customer created logo (result of a contest) on the barrel. not to mention steve and casey are awesome to deal with!
