I'd check the voltage on the battery to see what it puts out. If it's 1.5v or so it probably won't have the voltage to heat up the atty which should be running at better than 3v. One of the main reasons to go with a mod is that it'll run at 3.7v with the batteries it's designed for. I've got two of those Madvapes boxmods and they're great little performers. The 900 mah 14500 batt's are cheap too at $4.29 each. I'd suggest you pick up a couple of them and a charger.

So I'm guessing I cant use the charger for my AA rechargeable batteries either?

Pretty sure you can't. I got a WF-188 charger for 3.2-3.7V and 300/600 mAh. Something like that might work for your batteries, but IDK. I don't like this charger. I wish I spent more on a more expensive one. It won't always recognize the batteries. You have to fiddle with it to get it to go.
