I did it !
Here's my order:
- AFSv2
- stainless steel mouthpiece
- 3 blank cartomizers
- 510 battery to kr808d adapter

Is this 100% everything I need to connect to my current BB w/ 510 connector? I sure hope so!

BTW, I LOVE using the BB passthru plugged into the multiple-voltage ac adapter I got from Radio Shack ... I default to the 6 volt selection but occasionally like a softer 5 or even 3.75 volt experience.

Boy, I'm paranoid that I am forgetting something ... does this every happen to you ?? ;-)

Now I ... just ... have ... to ... wait ..... tick tock tick tock ...

Thanks everyone for your help :)

That should do it. If you like this setup make sure you get more cartomizers. You don't want to run out and go back to dripping or cartridges.

Not standard just get a couple i6 Attys, then buy some regular HV901 Attys they will work and we will tell you how to modify them a bit to make em even better from stock ones in the AFS, But get say 2 i6 Attys OK

We are modifying stock attys?

I haven't seen any difference between iattys and stock attys.

By stock attys, I mean unmodified ones.
Unmodified HV atties should be fine, if you are at a place where every penny counts.

Was trying to help Imeo & Rob a bit Waffle ;-) and yes I am modifying my HV Attys a bit and they are working better than stock.!!!

I gotcha ;)

Is your atty modding a current trade secret? How are they helping you? I'd pee on a sparkplug if I thought it would keep me from stomping atties.

Cuz I do like the i6s and they seem to do better than i7s for me.

Hi my new friend contino:) I am happy that you deside to have your AFS.! The things you ordered are ok. As for the iatties, they just have a bigger hole that normal atties, so dont buy them id you see that they are expensive for you. Just buy regular ones and make a biger hole on them or use them as they are, not a big problem

Hi Imeo :)
I simply cannot wait until my AFS arrives! I have been playing w/ cart mods for the past 7 months I've been vaping and have gone through all the typical scenarios - too dry, too wet, leaking, flooding, losing more juice than I care to know.

I have accepted the fact that pv's are cutting-edge and are still in their early stages of development, so being "glitchy" is to be expected.

So perhaps the AFS takes us one step closer to vaping heaven :)

I have turned several people on to the wonderful world of vaping here in Buffalo, NY, but some of the older folks are not going to want to fool around w/ the device. They just want it to work!

I know the AFS is for "advanced" users, but hopefully in the future, the wicking issue will be a thing of the past, and folks will be able to simply pick the device up, load it w/ their favorite juice, and vape away all day long.

Me personally? I don't mind playing w/ my pv ... I've always enjoyed getting my hands into the guts of things, as perhaps YOU do too :)

Thanks again for everyone's input.

Now the waiting period for my delivery from VaporKings ... very painful to bear ;-) And I hope all the rain in Oklahoma won't delay the delivery!

And while I'm in a holding pattern waiting for my delivery ...

I'm curious .... what EXACTLY makes the AFS work? If I understand correctly, the bridge part of an atty will not come in direct contact w/ anything - blue foam, polyfil, etc. So, does the juice get wicked directly to the atomizer coil from the bottom?

And how does the juice properly wick without direct contact? Seems that the juice saturation would be random.

Imeo or anyone who cares to, would you give an explanation of the physics of the whole thing?

And will there perhaps be an AFS in the future that will have a smaller diameter that might be used for the typical mini-ecig?

The day we have an AFS for the everyday user will be a big BIG deal. As I mentioned in my last post, I have a number of older folks I know who will try only if it's a no-brainer, simple device to use. We may be a long way away from this, but hopefully not too long.

My father is a physician w/ mostly older folks as patients. He's VERY impressed that his son has let go of the smokes for 5 months now (and EFFORTLESSLY), but he hesitates to recommend to his patients because of the glitchy nature of the device.

Any thoughts?

Hi my friend Carl. I am glad you like to look deeper at things, you remind me buddy:lol:

Ok, how the aAFS works:

Imagine the atomizer and around it a tube with liquid. The side hole feeds the atomizer by inhaling. The center pole is for air and leakage. When the leakage reach a specific level then the atomizer starts feeding itself by the center pole too so liquid stays at this level always without leakage outside the GG. Nice and simple without difficult parts, buttons, springs or anything else. No way to fail. And I have to say that the new GGTS AFS is not for advanced users, its for all users, so the time you wait is here, now. The only we have to take care is the air that comes to atty. We have the CR for this so anyone can adjust the air if he feels a burn taste. Its the best way to control liquid and air by the simplest device in the world.
And if you use cartomizers then maybe there is no reason to adjust air at all. You smoke until the tank gets empty:)

You know, I LOVE futzing with things and am always conjuring up little ideas for things but rarely ever seriously pursue them. In the future, I could see myself refreshing my memory on micro-processor controlled devices I studied in electrical engineering 13 years ago and see if I could rig up a programmable pv with many features :) ... different voltages, LED lighting patterns, etc. .... just for the fun of it :)

I'd lalso like to design a pv that has a really nice engraving that shows a beautiful pattern when an LED lights up underneath it.

Just having fun considering the possibilities ...

And I also would like to see different accessories for the pv such as a "pv tray" for storing the pv when not holding it in my hand ... ashtrays obviously don't cut it.

I see this will be my 15th post ... this makes me a 'full member' , right?

:)

Ok, I best get back to my computer work ... have to make some money!

Imeo :)
Thanks for the explanation. Any thoughts on a future AFS with smaller diameter so that it looks nice w/ mini-ecigs ? That may not be possible because of the smaller diameter allowing less juice to be filled. Just wondering ...

Designs for it are ready contino but I have no time until GGTS and its AFS production finished:)

GG will stay completely nechanical so immortal contino. You are talking about something different that we can make in future but it will be irrelevant with GG:)

Just got my AFSv2 in :)
I've drilled the hole in the cartomizer, set up the AFS, and filled the tank ...

So far it's vaping very nicely :)

Two questions:
1. I'm used to a 510 and the carto is much hotter than I'm used to. Might a 901 atomizer be the way to go for a cooler vape?
2. I prefer a tighter inhale so I've closed the vent holes on the AFS pretty much all the way. Do you foresee any problems with this? I've noticed everyone who is using the cartomizer keeps the vent holes completely open.

I'll continue to vape and report my results :)

ad 1.) you need carto's with a higher ohm rating. Rob will have them in due time;
ad 2.) no problemos, even if you have the CR ring a little open it is fine!

As Emonty said, you need higher resistance cartomisers to use them at 6v. I think suppliers are working on it now (I am working on mine but they won't be available to the US). Worth trying an HV 901 to see if you prefer the flavour at high voltages.

If you like a tighter draw, by all means keep the control ring more closed. It may result in more juice feeding so you may want to adjust the size of the hole you drill in your cartomiser. You may not, it's all very individual.

Welcome, and congratulations. You'll never want to drip or fiddle with carts again! I can't believe that so many people are still doing all that stuff when they could be sharing the joys of the AFS with us.

Thank you emonty and lisa :)

I will be sure to try out HV cartomizers when available. I haven't found the need for HV 510 atties vaping at 6 volts ... nice flavor ... vapor temperature moderate. But based on what you've recommended, sounds like a HV carto might help.

Couple more questions ...
1. Do you keep the carto's rubber gasket and cap on or off w/ the AFS?
2. What do you do when she floods? Again, I'm so used to handling nearly any issue w/ my 510, I feel a bit in the woods w/ dealing w/ a carto.

It did just flood when I didn't realize that my batts had lost power and sucked on it too hard :) It's lost it's power ... attempting to crank her back up but she's faltering ... hmmm

So far ... very nice but I see the learning curve now :)
