DIY intrigues the mad scientist in me. I have been making my own real soaps, lotions and lip balms for over 6 years. I already have everything I need to make my own juice, except nicotine (sis is sending me hers). I do have flavor oils, liquid sucralose (water based) and stevia concentrate (coconut oil) and extracts (alcohol).

I would prefer not having to purchase other flavors as I have over 20 right now. Is it doable?

im new but what ive heard and read here you arent suppose to use oil. ive heard flavor art, loranns , flavor apprentice, and capella flavor drops are whats used for the flavors, and you have to use usp vegetable glycerin<you can get it from the places i listed>usp prophyl glychol<think thats how its spelled> and some people use vodka or everclear. not sure about the sweetner....i know dyiflavorshack has kits and they use ethyl maltol for the sweetner. good luck ...you can always read the forum and go to live chat alot of people will help you :)

Are they Lorann's flavorings? Oils....real oil, will gunk up your atomizer. The flavorings need to be water/alcohol/propylene glycol/glycerine based. There is a DIY Liquids thread here, and it will tell you what kind of flavorings are okay. I think there are about four manufacturers of flavorings that are considered safe: Flavourart (Italian), Capella, Lorann's, Perfumer's Apprentice (also called the Flavor Apprentice)....that's all I can think of. Anyway, someone who is more of a pro on DIY should be along soon. Hopefully he/she can correct me where I'm wrong.

Meanwhile, welcome to ECF! http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/74109-guide-diy-flavoring.html That's the link to the DIY Liquids thread.

Been wondering this myself about some lip balm flavoring I've got...the one I just checked didn't have the ingredients listed but was called something like 'peach lip balm flavoring oil' so.. since oil is in the title on that one I'm not gonna even try it. Did find another bottle of jackfruit flavoring down there though that was just water, pg, and flavoring pretty much, so that one is fine. See if your flavorings have ingredients on them, and of not I would probably say not to use them or at least to dilute them with fair amount of pg or something else like the poster above mentioned... I know with mine if I'm not sure I'll probably just not bother.

I keep reading about folk using alcohol as a solvent or dilutant - perhaps it's my ignorance but isn't there a risk of:
1) slight to severe 'drunkeness' from vaping alcohol - take a lot less vapour to have an effect
2) long term lung, liver and kidney damage
Is inhalable alcohol a good idea? - By Amanda Schaffer - Slate Magazine
Please inform my ignorance but currently palying it 'safe'.

In general if the flavoring says either water insoluble or good for chocolate, then it is probably a true oil. If you are using only a very small amount (say peppermint oil-insoluble ), mixing with a bit of PGA can help maximize the mixing and minimize the bead residue. Always a good idea to check ingredients - Loann's Candy Oils (for the most part) are not oils - just a traditional name; however, if they state they are insoluble in water or good for chocolate then there is true "oil" in them. I use either e. maltol or stevia (water base concentrate) for sweetening, or many times adding a complimentary sweetening flavor (vanilla, etc.) can help. Using a higher VG ratio can also boost sweetness.

Once you get enough posts you can question the DIY threads - lots of great information and people there.

Good luck and have fun!
