I don't think the cell phone batt is protected, the phone usually has that circuit. These guys say the wf-139 likes to overcharge unprotected batts.

UltraFire WF-139 overcharges batteries? other option? - CandlePowerForums

If you were to watch it closely and pull the batt when it turns green..... that might avoid a fire :)

edit: the batt is MAYBE protected itself, extra leads are for monitoring the batt though, which the phone does better.

No worries, it seems manufacturers are more pressed to get as much mAh into the least amount of space than to add protection. 4.2 is good, so if you dont sleep/ leave home it should be ok.

There's these chargers Cellphonefocus: Germany Plug Universal Mobile Cell Phone Battery Charger, Universal Battery Charger, Cell Phone Charger, Mobile Charger, Travell Charger that have charge protection, so you cant go so wrong.

On a tangent, charging multiple protected batts in parallel will work properly as each batt will stop when full and the charger will keep going til the last batt is full? Am I right with this? I want to charge multiple 14500's with a single slot charger. Cheers for input on this :)

Don't you need a special balance charger for that? or maybe that's only for unprotected cells.
