EDIT for an after-thought: This is in no way a complaint, accusation, or negative implication about TV's juice. More than likely I just have some bad attys.

I'm trying to solve a problem...big problem. I've been vaping for one week. All was great until yesterday (and all day today). All of a sudden my vapor began to taste rotten. See here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecigarette-technical-issues/87781-help-rancid-taste.html

I have spent the entire day swapping attys. Cleaning and refilling carts, dripping only, everything I can think of. I ran out of all but my Tasty Vapor Pina Colada, so it is the only thing I have not changed. I tried 6 different Joye 510 atomizers (all heat up and seem to function normally), 3 of which were brand new and never used before that. The rest nearly new.

This juice is a 1 ounce bottle of 48mg and a 4 ounce doubler that I mix 50/50. It's only 6 days old. I even dumped my mix and remixed a new batch. The only thing I can think is that this juice just got rotten somehow. It still smells normal in the bottle, but tastes just rancid. Plenty of vapor, but rancid taste and after taste that leaves me spitting to get it out.

Ever heard of juice spoiling overnight? I am at my wits end.

It's unlikely the juice, but here are a few things to check out. if you are by any chance using cartridges with polyfill, check to see that you haven't got any stuck to your atty bridge... when it gets burnt on there, it tastes REALLY bad, and yes its really hard to get rid of that flavor in your attys. This happens A LOT on 510's (don't know what you have). You also mentioned switching attys... if these are brand new attys, they come with a primer in them that also tastes horrible.

You can try washing the attys in hot water, fill up the tube with water, blow hard into the mouthpiece and force the water through. Also blow through the battery end several times to clear the water out. Then dry burn the atty with SHORT little bursts for a bit. (be careful not to get the atty too hot though, you can pop it easily). NOW repeat the whole water wash and dry process all over again. Once your atty is dry, add TWICE the amount of e juice and puff puff puff till you start to get vapor again (might take a bit if there is still a little water in there). This process works great for me to wash out bad flavor out of my attys.

#1. Make sure you're NOT vaping the primer on the atty's. Considering you said that you're using 'brand new' atties, that's probably the issue.

#2. Follow the advise of mottly to clean them. But, I'll add a little something to his 'dry burn' section..gently blow on the atty while you're heating it up, less chance of it popping on you

#3 NEVER throw out liquid! (Especially if it's from TASTY VAPOR!! OMG!! You're KILLING us here!). If it smells okay, it probably IS okay. Tastebuds DO change and there are days that you just can't seem to find your 'sweet spot'. Slow down a bit and try again.

i really think it is just the taste buds and being burned out on that taste.. i never had tv Pina Colada .. i have made my own.. it tastes good but cant stand it as a all day vape.. its one of the every now and then flavors and it tastes good then.. when i try to use it a lot it starts tasting nasty to me... probably not the atty either.. because i just put it aside when it tastes bad to me and when i try it a few days later it tastes good again..

I did blow out the new attys, and gave a good bit of time to work out the remaining primer. It is a 510. It tastes about like the the new atty primer though. Even on my one week old attys. Can your taste change that much?!? Even if you just get burnt out on a flavor? I never had Michelob Light begin to taste like used motor oil to me back when I drank a lot of that years ago.

Well, I have some new TV juices coming in today or tomorrow, we'll see. One is more Pina Colada for the doubler I already have though. DOH! But at least I will have one other flavor to swap it with...Strawberry Cheesecake.

One thing though...if I put a few drops of the new Pina Colada on there and it suddenly tastes good again...I'm going to be ......, because that will mean that the $30 worth I bought last week has indeed "soured"...and the $50 worth with that order will probably do the same in 4 days.

Good! Glad to hear that. I couldn't imagine juice going sour like that, but you would not believe how it tastes to me right now. No hint of the formerly excellent flavor. None. It tastes like vaped motor oil, literally. I am still new to vaping though, so really didn't know if this was a common thing or not.

I just hope Strawberry Cheesecake will be different enough to get me back on track.

Clean your atty again and try a few drops of just the doubler, direct drip onto the atty and see if you get the same taste. I have some attys that are taking forever to get rid of the nasty primer taste and it does taste like burned motor oil (or how I imagine that tastes since I have never actually tasted motor oil). Let us know how it goes.

Clean your atty again and try a few drops of just the doubler, direct drip onto the atty and see if you get the same taste.

I did clean my used attys. I tried everything conceivable, boiling this one, mouthwash rinse then flush that one, hot water rinse then dry burn another, brand new one blown out first, brand new one boiled first, etc. etc.

I tried the Juice without doubler in it, but not vice verse. I will try that though. One thing I have found is that direct dripping always taste like motor oil. If I can manage to get a cart to wick a damned thing I got the hint of flavor a time or two...then the cart stopped working and the taste went rancid again.

They pull about 2-3 drops worth off the top then act as if they are bone dry with 14 drops stuck in the bottom. I tried Rite-Size U Blue Foam, Fluval (fluffy, not spongy), Bonded Filter Sleeve, Standard filler from prefilled carts, Pyramid Tea Bags folded/cut every which way, Big straws, little stir-stick straws, zero filler with cart cap plug with a hole in it like Scottyballs mod (even this left like 12 drops pooled in the bottom of the cart). I tried stuffing the filter so loose it leaked all over, tried it so tight it would not give up juice and everything in between...but that is another topic.

EDIT: Direct dripped 48mg Pina Colada juice vs Pina Colada Doubler alone.
    Pina Colada Doubler was good.
48mg Pina Colada juice tasted like motor oil.

The same thing happened to me about a week to 10 days after I started vaping. It was NOT with tasty vapor juice. It was dekang. Everything tasted like the primer on the atomizers. I was so desperate that I even lit an analog. That tasted horrible too. 2 puffs and I put it out. The next day, everything was good again. The following week, I got my first tasty vapor juice, and the rest is history. I gave my dekang to my friend. Hang in there, taste buds go crazy. I also went through several spells where I could literally not taste a thing, not even cinnacide. After 5 weeks, things are getting much better. I can taste all flavors in the juices and finally can appreciate the different flavors. I bought Pina colada last week also. It taste awesome, but I would not want to vape that alone. My favorite vape of the week is chocolate/peppermint, and caramel popcorn. Next week, I am sure it will be something different.

I am willing to bet it is your taste buds going wacky on you,
Many of us when we first started vaping had odd things happen.
Taste was one of them. There were times I could not handle my favorite foods, other times they tasted great.
    Same with juice.
There really is nothing in juice that would spoil that fast.
When you quit smoking you go though a lot of changes, put it aside for a few weeks and try it again.

I would not debate that point with you. I did notice pizza tasted much different than normal the other night since I stopped smoking cigarettes. That is why I would not dream of bugging Geoff about this. I am way too new at this to start pointing the finger at anything, and have experimented with atty cleaning and cart fillers so much already, I can't say for sure which atty has had what done to it.

This might sound weird but have you tired a neti pot?
Thteres a thread over on general about people and their taste bud issues - actually its sense of smell, the tongue can only distinguish sweet sour bitter and salty - and many of us found the use of a neti pot (the weirdest thing you will ever do with your nose) pretty eficacious.
A lot of us found our 'taste' madly off with juices - ones we'd loved tasted like 'nothing' or they all tased like phelgm (I didnt see any motor oil ones but we are all different). Some people just waited it out, some tried Neti pot (can buy at any pharmacy, draug store, supermarket etc). Its pretty good. Might be worth a go?
