Can my coil really be this touchy?

I'm loving the Ody since the perfume is gone. :)

But my coil? It's odd. 2 lifepo4 batteries at 3.0V tastes burned, even with juice cranked all the way open. 1 18650 at 3.7V way too light. With the 4.8 17670 it's juuuuuuust right. But I only have one of these babies.

I guess I could try making a lower resistance coil but this one is working perfectly except for the fine point voltage situation...

Thanks for any advice.

What OHM are you running? I love my 6v setup. 5v is to light 5.5-6v is great 3.7 does nothing. My coil is 3.2 ohms made with .16mm Nichrome and .236mm Nickel resistance wire. I use 2 pieces of wick 1 short piece just long enough to go the width of the ceramic on top of the normal long wick. When I wrap my coils I use a 16 or 18 guage needle as a support and I wrap it tight but when I pull the needle out it is tight enough to touch the wick but loose enough to where I can adjust the wick if needed. I also use 60/40 vg/pg juice and have no wicking issues.

Ok, it's 2.4 ohms, and 1 piece of wick. I used 32 ga kanthal and 30 ga DS silver for the NR wire.

I suppose it *could* be wrapped too tightly... Looks like wicking is the culprit.

Thanks!

You may want to try 3.0 ohm at 6V. You would be getting about 5.5V under load which would give just about 10W. Also, I would recommend using Freights suggestion of using a second piece of wick on top (just like it Scott's video), that works really well for me too.

Have fun :)

I have a 3.0 coil running with 2x aw lifepo4 3.2v and it hits perfect. I tried with 2x 16340 3.7v and i could detect a slight burn taste. I also used scott's method of double wick inside the cup and wrapped my coil without the help of a pin so it's not so tight.

For a first time ever using a rebuildable atomiser, im blown away by the results!

You can adjust the liquid inside Ody so you dont have burn taste at all Yeti. Ody doesnt depend only on the ability of the wick, it depends on your adjustments too:)
Without gettting burned taste? From personal experience, I don't see how it's possible. I've been wrong before, believe me. ;-)

I agree... i'm running 7.4v in my GGTS, with a loosely wrapped 2 ohm Kanthal coil in my iAtty v1....tons of vapor, good flavor, no burnt taste at all....if it can be done in this, it should easily work in the Ody too.... but then, I have my 1st coil, a 3 ohm version still in my Ody on one of my Stealth's and its vaping good too....next one will be smaller, I prefer a ton of vapor production, a bit warmer hit...

OK, I believe it's possible now. I guess I have no need for HV with my Ody - running 1.4 - 1.6ohm coils at 3.7v is just fine for me. More than enough vapor/warmth/TH for me! :)
