Can Protank 2 Mini use any other than its native atomizer unit?

I know that other tanks can use the coil units that come with protank 2 mini, but are there other types (maybe, possibly, cheaper?) that one can use with the P2 mini? I've invested in three p2 minis at this early stage. I really like the design.

I do have some information on how to refresh/rebuild--using twisted cotton--the kanger units that come with the p2 mini, but am a super-beginner and haven't gotten around to figuring out how to do this. (By the way, can you do it with cotton alone, or do you need some other wicking material as well?)

Anyway, I seem to be going through the little units like gangbusters, and since I'm not quite in a position to start DIY juicing to save money (although I'm dreaming madly about it and spending waay too much time contemplating flavor sites and sales on nic liquid and PG/VG, etc), I was just wondering if there was an alternative. Probably not...I suspect I'll be nudged onto a faster learning curve toward re re-wicking them by my pocketbook.

If anyone has info links for me, a text based source would be greatly appreciated--although I will definitely note videos as well, for a time when I'm able to stream.

For a way better vape and radically increased economic efficiency, I would suggest dedicating yourself to rebuilding the coils. You can get 100ft of wire for $7 on Amazon and then pick up some organic cotton balls for wick. Check out youtube for some tutorials. It's pretty easy, way easier than it seems.

When you get it down, you're basically ready for a kayfun.

I have some of the ones that come with silica wicks, which I just pull out and re-do with cotton, but now have switched to using rayon(!!)

4¢ for a NR-R-NR coil is pretty good alternative to the full head replacement.

Heh. If you can build those tiny PT heads, you can build a Kayfun. Or anything else for that matter! That being said, it really is easier than it seems, and you will be very happy for having learned how to do so. Microcoils wicked with cotton transform a PT into something really great. I own Kayfuns, and my PT2's still get regular use.

Susan, thank you! I have bookmarked both links and was able to watch most of the one by riptripper (he's a hoot-and explains things very well on making teensy weensy protank coils. I will start looking for a photo-based tutorial also, so that I can really study it before I try my hand at it. Meanwhile, I have the text-based re-wicking-with-cotton tutorial and can get started on that as soon as I get the supplies.

v1kin1ng: I am dedicated as of now. I don't know what a kayfun is, exactly, but I guess it requires constant rebuilding. Thanks for your input!

CG Scott, If I decide to get these fasttech jobbies I will prolly wait until I've mastered the simple cotton wicking. I am still struggling to understand what the coil itself does exactly. Still, this is exactly the kind of info I was looking for and it's good to have it archived for future reference.

Not damaging the existing coil--I will have to look into what that entails. When I am eventually building my own microcoils for pt2 mini, I hope to have a better understanding of the whole resistance/power/voltage/current situation so I can take advantage of the adjustments I could presumably make to my vaping experience. Right now, I just **barely** understand it, with some major holes in my understanding. I am looking, actually at the site at the bottom of Susan's post:

Does it have to be kanthal? I've never heard of that. I'll take a look for it at my local hardware store since i doubt I'll be needing the 7 bucks worth.

One more quickie question:
If I vape a 2.2 protank atomizer at above 6.5 watts or about 3.8 volts, am I in danger of damaging it and/or the juice?

I somehow (can't remember exactly how) came across the info that 6.5 watts was the desired power for a 2.2 coil, and timezing those two numbers together gave me 14.3, which I then took the square root of, and came up with 3.78 as my max voltage. (Don't ask me --why-- I did that particular math...I can't remember now, altho I think I did kind of grasp it at the time.

So, this seems to work well most of the time (6.5 watts or 3.8 volts) but sometimes I'd like to hike it up a bit depending on the juice, or maybe how clogged my tank is. Is that a bad idea to up the voltage when your stuff is clogged? It has mixed results tastewise, but I'm wondering if it's hard on the gear. Oh yeah, I also use CE4s coz I got a bunch cheap on ebay and those can get gunky sometimes from a single tank.

I am a pro tank 2 mini fanatic.
Its the worlds best tank without a doubt.

My fav setup is the new aerotank adjustable based. With a hand wound micro coil. Thickish gauge 1.2 Ohms.
You know you have it right when you can drive it at 20 watts with no dry hits.

If you get bored try the octa coil on the mini pro-tank 2.

Think my Pro tank 2 mini is a better tank than my ithika clone.
