If the nicotine liquid you bought is supplied as 50% PG / 50% VG at a strength of 48 mg/ml then your recipe looks correct.

i'll be getting a 30ml bottle of 48mg PG and a 30ml bottle of 48mg VG in the mail. sorry but, i'm TOTALLY new to this and don't want to screw it up :)

edit: so if I want this recipe to work I would mix both the 48mg PG and 48mg VG together to make a 50/50 mix?

I don't believe that will work. Please don't mix or vape this until someone else with more knowledge than I have comments.

The most important point to consider is your final mix will be much higher in nic content than the 18 mg you desire. The reason for this is you are not using any straight PG or VG to cut the 48 mg/ml juice. The 17% of flavoring is not sufficient to reduce the 48 mg/ml mic juice to 18 mg. I believe t will create a final product that is close to 40% nic.

In the recipe you show in your original post, it assumes you will be adding straight PG and straight VG to the mix along with the 50/50 48 mg/ml mic juice to reduce the mic level to 18mg. If you try to use the mic juice to control both the mic level and the PG/VG ratio I believe either the mic level will be higher or the ratio in the end will not be 70/30. Hope someone smarter than me comes by soon to help out here.

As you can see in the recipe you are to add 3 separate ingredients Nicotine, PG and VG. The program does not allow you to specify that you desire to achieve a 70/30 ratio using only nic juice.

Edit:Rerun the recipe with just one of your nic juices either the VG or PG one, start with inputing it into the calculator at 100% PG or VG depending on which one you want to use.

Example:
48 mg/ml 100% PG
desired 18 mg 70/30 PG/VG with 17% flavor to make 10 ml

Nic juice (using your 48 mg/ml PG bottle) 3.7 ml
Straight PG 1.6 ml
Straight VG 3.0 ml
Flavor 1 1.5 ml
Flavor 2 0.2 ml

That will work but since your getting 2 bottles of 48mg/ml Nic (1 in PG and 1 in VG) and your telling the calculator your Nic is a 50/50 mix. It's telling you to use 3.75ml of the 50/50 Mix of Nic (1.875ml of each 1 - NOT 3.75ml of each 1) . Then 3.42ml of No Nic PG and 1.12ml on No Nic VG.

If your going to set the calculator up that way you either have to:
1. Divide the Nic it's telling you to put in, in half and put half in from each bottle
or
2. Mix your 2 Nics together in a bottle in a 50/50 ratio (so you would have 48mg/ml 50/50 Nic).

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers,
Steve

Looks good to me, After the OP's last post, I think they have a handle on what to do... But with their NIC juice... I dont understand why you bought 100% of both vg and PG, but, for the sake of keeping it easy, I would just use 1 or the other, and not both at the same time...

For example, decide to use either PG or VG nic juice, and update that on the calculator to 100% of which ever you want. (right next to the nicotine strength e-Juice)

Then yeah you will have to follow the recipe on the right since after you "calculate".

thanks a lot for all the help guys! when my nic get here ill combine the two to make a 50/50 PG/VG blend and, in the future i'll just order 48mg 50/50 mix. I had that option but ordered one of each, obliviously ;)

another question. is it better to just order either 48mg PG or VG versus ordering a 50/50 48mg pg-vg mix. the only reason I can see it would matter is It might save a buck or two by ordering only one with nic instead of both?

It depends on what you want your PG/VG ratio to be on how you order your Nic.

EX: On this batch you want your ratio to be 70/30, but with 48mg/ml Nic you need to add 3.75ml per 10ml of mix = 37.5% of the mix. So if you ordered your Nic in straight VG, the best you would be able to do is 62.5/37.5. You wouldn't be able to make a 70/30 mix. Play with the calculator putting in Nic in pure PG, pure VG, 50/50 mix, and final mix ratios you want, to make sure you get what your after. :toast:

Cheers,
Steve
