On the other store bought liquids even the pro tank was clogging up...maybe even faster than the ce4 clearomizers...perhaps due to the short little wicks.

If that's an Ego Upgrade battery, what color is the LED when you press the button? If it's blue it's running in the un-regulated mode which will put out up to 4.2 volts on a fully charged battery and could cause a burnt taste with low resistance clero.
To change between regulated and un-regulated mode first turn off the Ego then hold the button down until it flashes, then turn it back on.

Think it just has on and off. I tried what you described and it never blinked after turning it off.
