Okay so I started using ecigs about two months ago. The first I used was a ego with a kanger t3s clearomizer. It worked good for a while but I ended up finding out the ego was fake and it only lasted less than two weeks. I started smoking again when my ECIg stopped working. Well last week a friend of mine have me an itazte vv. I used my kanger clearomizer with it. He also gave me a replacement atomizer for the kanger. I swapped the atomizer out and with the new mod I was loving ecigs again and stopped smoking. I was using ha a menthol flavor for a little under a week and swapped out to a strawberries and cream flavor. But today my ECIg seems like it's not producing vapor as much again and the new flavor tastes horrible. I love a good throat hit but it's just not doing it for me now. Could it be that my atomizer is wearing out? I was chain vaping a lot but one weeks seems like a short amount of time for an atomizer to go out. I don't know if I should replace the atomizer or just buy a whole new setup. I just want some advice to get a reliable and consistent vaping setup.

When you changed your flavor, did you play with your VV or VW? I'm fairly new to vaping myself, however I've found with different brands of e-liquid and different flavors I had to play to find the voltage or wattage that fit that flavor. I've also found that I have to switch up quite often on my flavors because I get to the point I can't taste them if I stay on the same one for more than a couple of hours. If the voltage or wattage is turned up too high, that gave me a horrible burnt taste.

Also, have you tried taking it apart and running everything under really hot water to clean it and dry everything off and then putting new juice back in? That helps me as well. Just a thought.

Your coil and/or wick are probably gunked up. Try soaking the atty in alcohol (vodka, everclear, or plain old rubbing alcohol), rinsing it well and letting it dry thoroughly. In the meantime, get a five-pack of new atomizers. I usually swap mine out every few days with a clean one, and rebuild the coils every few weeks.

Chris,

As you use an atomizer for a period of time, the taste tends to degrade.

One thing is that the juice starts to change. The stuff that vaporizes more easily goes away, leaving residue that tends to be tougher to vape and not flavorful at all (or even nasty-tasting). Eventually the wick and coil will pick up this flavor, and everything will taste bad.

Best remedy for that is as soon as a vape starts to taste bad, dump it out, wash out the head, and put new juice in. The juice you're dumping is worthless anyway.

Others have suggesting changing the coil, which is also a good idea.

It may be that the coil or wick is clogged, in which case a dry-burn could help (take off the tank, use a paper towel to pull as much juice off of the wick, and then fire it for a while until it stops emitting any vapor or smoke).

You should also search for "Vaper's tongue" and understand what that is; might be what you're suffering from.

HTH!

Hi Element!

Yes, these coils do wear out, but you can probably get a lot more life out of it. The good news is that they are common, so they are easy to find, and they are cheap, usually under $10 for a 5 pack. With proper maintenance and cleaning, I get about 3 weeks out of a coil before I clean it, and I get between 2-4 cleanings out of a coil. Doing the math gets me about 9 weeks or so conservatively per coil.

Did you clean the coils before swapping flavors? Menthol is a VERY hard flavor to get out of a coil, and if you didn't clean it at all, it is no wonder you are getting horrible flavor. It could also be that you got a juice that just tastes horrible, it is hard to say what the case is here. As for the vapor, it could be the coil, or it could just be the mix used for the juice. Some juices produce more vapor than others. Did it produce better vapor when you changed flavor, or has it been this way since the switch over? I have found that most of the fruit flavor vapes don't give nearly as much throat hit as a menthol or cinnamon vape, but be careful with strong flavors because they can cause your plastic tank to crack. Adjusting the iTaste up may help with the throat hit and vapor, but the flavor will get weaker, so you could try that too, it might fix the bad taste by removing it. :D

I recommend trying to clean the coil with alcohol and see if that helps anything. Here is the best way that I have found to clean them.

DO NOT USE RUBBING ALCOHOL! I have found that using grain alcohol (Everclear) works best Here is what I do ...

1. Rinse coils under hot water for about 30 seconds, wrap in a paper towel to dry off excess moisture, repeat 2 or 3 times.
2. Place coils in a shot glass.
3. Cover coils with Everclear and allow to soak for at least 12 hours (longer if really gunked up)
4. Remove coils from shot glass, wrap in paper towel to remove excess moisture and allow to dry for about 4 hours. If you can't wait, then dry burn them for about 20 seconds, wait 60 seconds and repeat. Do this as many times as necessary to dry them out.

As for replacing the whole setup, I would recommend giving this one a try for a bit longer first, unless the battery just won't hold a decent charge. What you have is a pretty good setup that should work well once you tune it in to your vaping habits and style.

The iTaste VV is an 800mah battery and should last about 8-10 hours on a charge. It doesn't matter for battery life, but do you know which version of the iTaste it is? If it is just VV it is a version 2 and if it is VV and VW it is a version 3. The easiest way to tell is the color of the numbers on the display, Red is v1 and v2, and Blue is v3. I am a chain vaper too, and my iTastes usually last just about 8 hours each (I have 2 of each of them, 4 altogether).

All of the info here is what works for me, YMMV.

I have played with both the volts and watts and it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I guys I'll just buy a bunch of replacement coils, they're one a buck or two a piece. Still thought they would last longer than a week

Actually your are lucky if you get a week out of one. You can soak it in cheap vodka and dry burn and make them last longer. Look up cleaning and dry burning on you tube. Good luck & VAPE ON:vapor:

Ok thanks for the advice guys. I soaked my atty in isopropyl alcohol and cleaned it good. I'm letting it dry out now, and the wicks already look almost pure white again so I'm hopefully it was just gunning up. If not, I'll purchase a new set(guess I should either way lol). Thanks to those who replied

You are probably okay this time, but NEVER clean your atty with isopropyl alcohol, use grain alcohol (Everclear) instead! I posted a few posts back on the best way I have found to clean the coils, it is a little time consuming, but REALLY stretches out the life of my coils.

Yes, you should buy a pack or two of replacement coils, you will need them eventually.

Good Luck!

Chris,

BTW, IMHO the Itaste V3 is one of the best batts available (Have 3, although the wife and daughter each stole one!) so "getting a whole new setup" shouldn't require changing that. You might want to try other heads, something like the CE or Iclears (TCC) although the Kanger head is a great choice. I would recommend having more than one head though, especially if you vape more than one liquid, but even if you only vape one, since it lets you do a comparison, and also gives you something to vape while the other one is soaking!

If I said I had about 50 heads I'd be lying; it's actually much more than that. (Most are CE's or EVOD's from Fasttech, though...)

Hey devauto!

Thanks for all the helpful info. I diddnt clean my coil inbetween flavors so I'm sure my wick was just gunked up. I soaked it in some alcohol and set it out to dry. I defiantly noticed a lack of vapor when swapping from the menthol to the strawberry. I'm just gonna order a 5 pack of them just to have them on hand. Just sucks because I had no backup, so I'm craving nic

Hadn't thought about buying more heads.. Guess it's better to keep just one flavor to a tank. Easier to swap flavors too. Thanks for the advice!

LOL ... I have been there my friend! I now own WAAAAYYY too many devices, tanks, and coils because of that very reason! I didn't mean to come off harsh on the alcohol, I hope it didn't come across that way, it just isn't safe to use isopropyl for anything but external uses, and vaping it INTO your lungs does not count as external. I would hate to see someone get sick or worse because they didn't know how dangerous something was. I am glad I was able to get you some helpful info. I agree with twgbonehead too, you should have more than one tank if you vape different flavors.

Also, some juices taste better in top coil tanks, while others are best in bottom coil tanks. The only way to find out what tastes best is to try it, and to do that you will want/need an assortment of different tanks. Maybe pickup one of each and then try the same flavor in each tank to see what the difference is. This gets pretty expensive quickly, and it is easy to go overboard, so read up on the different tanks and try to narrow down your options based on what others have to say about it. Just remember, everyone is different, so what 50 people say about a tank/juice/battery may not be true for you.
